Magic Rewards Cards

Has anyone ever used a magic rewards card? Is it like a prepaid card? The amount just keeps lowering until you have spent it all? Is it readily accepted for everything, souvineers, food, etc.? My first trip so I don't know anything!

The card is like a prepaid card with the amount of award dollars that you received. As you use it they keep deducting the amount until it's all used up. You can use it everywhere in the world. Have fun on your first trip.

I've used my rewards card onmy past two trips. It works like a gift card. I never did try to use it at a snack stand but I never had any problem using it at the shops all around "The World"

Is the rewards card being discussed connected to the Disney Visa? Or is this something totally different?

If it is related to the Disney Visa then the rewards card is a card that has all of your reward dollars loaded onto it for use at WDW, DL or the Disney Store. The reward dollars are earned when you make purchases with your Disney Visa (standard is 1% [$1 for every $100] but sometimes there are specials where you can earn double rewards). By our last trip we had earned ~450 reward dollars so about a month before our trip I called Bank One (now Chase) and ordered a rewards card and had all the dollars transferred to it. Then we used the rewards card for meals and souvenirs. The receipt would show how many reward dollars we had left.

I can't believe how quickly our 1% has added up since we've been doing all of the usuals on the card & paying it off monthly. We put everything on it: groceries, tuition, etc. It's been great & I can't wait to use it in the World!
