Any idea if the MAGIC will get a major refurb now that she's over the 25 year mark ?
I for one certainly hope so.

She had a drydock with major upgrades not too long ago... Most ships don't keep sailing past 25-30 years. I know we got the announcement of 13 ships total but many thought before the announcement she might be heading out to pasture following the PC sailing.

Cruise ships get regular refurbs throughout their life. That allows them to safely continue to operate for many years

She had a major refurb back in 2014. That is 10 years ago now but have the other ships had refurbs on the level of that one. I don't think we'll see a 'major' to the bones refurb of the Magic again.

Many cruise ships sail beyond 25-30 years. They just don't sail under the same name and operator. Many older ships are sold off and then used by other operators. It all depends on where Disney thinks they can get the most value: maintaining the ship to keep sailing in the fleet, or sell her off.

I very very much doubt that when Disney retires the Magic that it will do so quietly. They will not miss the opportunity to cash in on a 'final season.'

Good thing we are on the PC sailing! I know there has been lots of conversation about how long Disney will keep the Magic and Wonder around. I feel like Disney may have tipped their hand a little with something that I found that I had heard nothing about. Disney is redoing/ has finished redoing the larger concierge suites on the Wonder. I watched a YouTube video from cruise with Ben and David last night that showed a complete redo of one of the one bedroom suites on the Wonder in Australia. The money that Disney put into the bathrooms alone makes me think they are plannng to have her around for at least ten years. They could have changed the carpet and drapes, bought new furniture and made some small upgrades to the bathrooms, but Disney went all out with a total gut. They even reconfigured the the bar, storage, Murphy bed layout along one of the walls. My family had a wonderful cruise in this room. So happy to see Disney create such a beautiful new experience. Here’s to ten or more great years!

The MV Astoria was finally scrapped this year after 76 years in services, so the Magic and Wonder are still kids in comparison. And as long as they continue to sell out like they do, I see no reason Disney would retire them. They aren't closing Disneyland because there are newer, bigger Disney parks.

I was on the Magic in September this year and didn't see anything looking worn. She looked wonderful. Everything in our room was in great shape too.
Same for us on our August 25th sailing.
