Magic Mountain Questions

Finally going to try one day in Magic Mountain for our teenage sons. Not our favorite type of park for any of us, but the boys do like thrill rides and want to give it a try. We plan to arrive before opening and aren't particularly fussed about doing everything. I am interested though if anyone has a recommended ride order. I did find one posted in a thread about a year ago, and I've been browsing some other theme park sites for ideas. I'd love some additional opinions and tips.

My other question is about bringing water into the parks. I've heard that they are pretty strict about bringing in outside food and drink, and that's fine because we don't eat a lot during the day and will just live with whatever expensive choices are inside. I would really like to bring in my own bottled water though. Will I have any luck with that? Thanks in advance for any help and tips.

I would try to get done all the roller coasters in one area before moving on, I'll just tell you what my favorite coasters are at Magic Mountain, that are always a must.

+ Goliath
+ Tatsu
+ Twisted Colossus
+ X2
+ Revolution
+ Apocalypse

The only ride that I really can't stand is Viper, I always get a raging headache from it.

With bringing things in, I've never been allowed to bring in a water bottle.

I love Six Flags Magic Mountain!!

I think they are more strict about bringing in outside food or drink but I know I brought in a Larabar, an apple and some nuts in my backpack last time. I'm nearly 100% sure I brought in some small sealed bottled waters in my backpack as well. I always do at any theme park. I'll ask my husband if he remembers, this was October 2015.

I would ride Full Throttle first then Twisted Colossus. Full Throttle is AMAZING! So is Twisted Colossus!

My other favorites are Lex Luthor Drop of Doom, Superman, and Goliath.

I will also ride Tatsu (it is so scary you feel like you're going to fall out!), X2 (it whips you around but it is SO good. I did hit my head hard last time I rode), Apocalypse (this ride could be described as a little rough - but if you like speed this is a great fast wooden coaster!), Ninja, and the Gold Rusher.

I don't ride Batman anymore because last time I got off it I felt really disorientated, I think it's my age, 40! haha And while I love the classic Viper I also don't ride it anymore due to getting a headache because of the shoulder restraints. I am looking forward to riding the newly restored Revolution! They took off the shoulder restraints.

If you are going when it's warm they should have the Rapids and possibly the Jet Streamer running. I'm not sure if they are running Tidal Wave any more. So that will be nice to cool off. My favorite time to go is October for Fright Fest!

Also, if you are going to be at the park all day you may want to leave the park for lunch. We had a great lunch (and beer!) at the Claim Jumper not far from the park. There's also a Chili's. There's a few restaurants closer than those, too, but we didn't want to eat at those.

Have fun!

The best order to do the rides are:

1. X2
2. Tatsu
3. Superman
4. Apocalypse
5. Riddlers Revenge
6. Goliath
7. Batman
8. Green Lantern
9. Twisted Colossus
10. Scream!
11. Full Throttle
12. New Revolution
13. Viper.
14. Ninja
15. Gold Rusher

Make sure you are at the park at least 1 hour prior to opening.

I've never had an issue with bringing bottles of water into the park. Magic Mountain gets down right miserably hot during the summer- it would be really stupid of them to deny guests to bring their own water.

Following rides have Single rider lines:

Green Lantern
Riddlers Revenge
Viper
Drop of Doom

The queue line for Twisted Colossus is really small and even on moderately busy days the line will overflow past the entrance and into the pathways. Wait time signage will often post the wait as being 90+mins. Do not be fooled, the line even on the busiest of days rarely exceeds 50min due to the rides outstanding capacity. This is one of, if not the best rides in the park and in the world. Do not miss this ride.

The the faster you can ride X2, Tatsu, and Superman in the morning the better. These three rides have the longest and slowest moving lines in the park. Riding them first thing in the morning will save you hours of waiting in line.

Thank you so much for the helpful responses! I will show my husband this ride order, and I'm glad to know that it might be possible to bring in our own water.

Just did a day there last Sunday. Had a blast, but I did get the platinum flash pass (worth it for me). Hit Full Throttle first thing in the morning.. it's AWESOME.. and so is Twisted Colossus. I would seriously consider skipping Green Lantern. It hurt.. REALLY hurt. In my Survey response to Magic Mountain, I told them Green Lantern should be demolished.

X2 will probably be the worst wait because they are VERY slow at loading and unloading the trains (this applies to almost all of their coasters). Plus, when I went, they were only running one train.

Revolution is currently closed as it is being renovated.

As for water, I've done this in several parks. I bring a collapsible cup and use that for water from the fountains or even bathroom faucets. (The bathroom tap is usually colder than the fountains.) Also, I bring liquid drink mix to add and have some flavor. If you're going to buy bottled water, bring the mix packets for 16 oz/20 oz water bottles. Makes a big difference.

Thank you everyone who responded. We ended up going last Tuesday. It was a horribly windy day, but that's the day we could go so it was what it was. A lot of rides were closed. My group made the best of it and weren't particularly disappointed. We have Six Flags passes for our local park this year because for various outside events the kids were going to be there a couple times anyway, so passes were a cheaper alternative. Having passes made this Magic Mountain trip "free", so we just made the best of it. We arrived well before opening so got good parking and an early start. Still didn't get on a lot of rides, but they enjoyed what they could do, and we decided to leave at 4 and head out to dinner elsewhere. I did ask my teenagers if they would like to try to get back down there on a non-windy day, and they said they didn't feel it was worth the bother. They would have liked to ride X2 and Scream! but said it was no big deal since they haven't done them before and don't know what they are missing.
