Does the monorail open for Magic Mornings or can you only go in through the main gates. I'm just wondering if it will be easier, since we're staying at the DLH, to hop on the monorail to get into the park or to head over to the entrance. I also noticed that Nemo is right next to the monorail platform so I thought it might be a better way to get to that ride...or will it already be packed by the time the monorail drops guests off?

Any tips/advice would be most welcome!

From my MM super thread: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403

For guests staying at the DLH or PPH can you take the monorail?
You can use the monorail to enter the park for MM; however it is a better option to walk through DTD and use the main entrance. The monorail sometimes beats the front gate crowds. Sometimes not.

I can pretty much guarantee you that the front gate crowds will beat you to Nemo and you will have a sizeable wait by the time the first monorail arrives in the park. In general, the monorail is not an effective manner in entering the park first thing in the morning. That said, it can be a life saver at the end of the day when you don't feel like walking.

And as an aside, to get into the line for Nemo, you have to walk out and around the Matterhorn anyhow, so it is not as close as it appears.

I did have one experience where my son was sick, we were at Paradise Pier and I didn't think we were going to MM at all. Then he woke up feeling better and so we all scrambled and made it for 1/2 of MM. The monorail was open and running. They looked at our hotel slip and then allowed us to ride the monorail in. In that circumstance, it was a great way to get to MM. But I would not waste them time doing that if I was trying to get in right at the opening of MM.

Thanks all! We'll definitely head to the main entrance.

It's the best 1/2 mile walk in the world. :thumbsup2

Everything is clean & crisp....few people up yet....walking (skipping) thru DTD with the anticipation of being near the front of the line (at the gate) for DL Magic Morning. :cool2:

In August, they let us ride the monorail for Magic Mornings and we did it sometimes and sometimes we walked.

Have to agree with this completely!! Nothing like walking through DTD early in the morning knowing where you will spend you day!! :goodvibes :cloud9:

I just returned from DL and would like to offer you one piece of advice regarding Nemo. DO NOT run to make Nemo your first ride on your MM - you will be waiting in a minimum 30 minute line up - even at 5 mins after MM starts. Trust me...I wasted half a MM entry on Tuesday waiting for Nemo. Just avoid Nemo until later in the day if you can.

I checked several different times on different days and the wait for Nemo was never more than 30 minutes at any given time (except first thing in the morning; it was up to 60 mins)- sometimes less. Do not waste your MM time waiting for a ride that you can ride any time with the same wait. Instead get on those rides with no line ups.

I was there last Sunday and literally walked on every ride in Fantasyland on my MM.
