I noticed that guests of Disney's Good Neighbor hotels also get early admission and preferred seating. I am surprised they do this. Usually, that is reserved for guests of Disney hotels (at least thats how they do it at Disneyworld). Not trying to start a flame war. Just curious why they do it different at DL?

Thanks!

Let me clarify. Good neighbor hotel guests get one MM pass, DL resort guests get ALL MMs. Also, the tickets have to be part of a package deal from Disney Travel or Costco Travel. The preferred seating to the shows in DCA are only for those who purchased a package from Disney Travel or Costco Travel. That means DL resort guests who booked with either of these travel agents get the preferred seating, it's not just the good neighbors. Sometimes I've seen one MM entry on the 3-day tickets they sell at grocery stores, not sure if that countiued to this year, though, I'd have to read the fine print on the ticket.

ONE Magic Morning is available to anyone with a 3 day ticket or longer no matter where you sleep (Good Neighbor, other hotel, or even home), but if you stay onsite you can take advantage of every MM during your trip. Preferred seating is usually only included in packages purchased through Disney whether onsite or offsite, we didn't get this when we booked the DLH on our APs. Disneyland only has 3 onsite hotels and none of them are a "value" or even "moderate", though I'm not sure I'd consider PPH a "deluxe".

The MM pass isn't given at the good neighbor hotels, its embedded in your 3+ day ticket no matter where you purchased them (with a few exceptions). If you stay at a good neighbor and have APs or 2 day tickets you still wouldn't get MM.

Guests who have bought a 3 day or longer ticket will get 1 MM. Preferred seating, I think, usually comes with a package. I think it is offered to other guests because DLR has fewer hotels than WDW. Most guests stay off property at DL.

I may not be correct, but this is just what I would assume.

Are DVC members staying at Grand Californian Villas, do we get to go to every MM as well?

I am 99+% sure you do but am not a DVC owner and will wait for someone else with specific experience to confirm.

Yes.

OP, although they are both disney, there are differences in the way Anaheim and Orlando do things. MM vs EMH for one. And it's worth noting that at Disneyland you ALWAYS want to attend the MM(s) you're eligible for, since it's a great benefit. At WDW, EMH is a big more debated, with big touring companies often telling you to avoid it by going to a *different* park that day.

Other difference is that you don't have your ticket on your keycard. Another is the way you upgrade tickets; at WDW if you use your ticket just once, if you upgrade, you get the *current* price of that ticket towards your next ticket. At DLR, when you upgrade, you will only get the *price you paid* towards it (unless you get pixie dust).

It all makes them a bit more unique, IMO.

There are only three "resort" hotels at DLR. Therefore, there are not enough resort guests to make a MM worth paying all those CMs to be there an hour early. It would be too few guests as only a small percentage of people at the park on any given day are actually staying at one of those three places.
At WDW, there are so many official hotels that the math is completely different.
HTH!

There is some confusion here. As answered by others, good neighbor hotel guests do not get MM priviliges. Only Disney hotel guests. When the OP asked about why DLR is different she was misstating what was different. In other words you cannot say why DLR is different because DLR does not do things like she thought.

Where DLR is different is that anyone with a 3+ day hopper gets one MM. And that would be because of TigerLiliAJs reason and because in general DLR caters to a different audience than WDW. DLR has many more locals and many less out-of-state or international guests. So they decide how to do things differently than WDW because their guest mix is different.

Dreams Unlimited Travel (sponsor of the DISboards) also books through Walt Disney Travel Company and offers these perks.

When you book a package you get the perks of Magic Morning (as described above), preferred seating, and Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness), whether you stay at a DL Resort or Good Neighbor hotel.

I find it kind of annoying that AP and military staying in one of the three DLR hotels don't get preferred seating. :(

Nothing to be annoyed about. IMO, It has no value. You don't need it at Muppets & Bugs Life, & at Aladdin, it forces you to arrive earlier to sit in seats that aren't any better than you could get by arriving later & sitting front row center balcony (which you can arrive later for) assuming you can climb stairs.

I agree. I have never had preferred seating and can't see any value in it. IMO it is something Disney does to make you think you are getting something valuable when it just isn't.

Just to be clear. I am a travel agent in Alberta and all packages we sell if they include a minimum of a 3 day hopper include a magic morning. No need to book with Disney or costco. doesn't have to be a good neighbor either.

The PREFERRED SEATING is limited to those who book through WDTC. Which includes many travel agents, Costco, AAA, etc.

The MAGIC MORNING is available to nearly all with a 3-day hopper no matter who they get their tickets through...exceptions include military, socal discount tickets, and possibly YES tickets.
