Magic Moments/Why Disney is Special to Me

I went to Disney as a child with my parents but didn't recall too much from those days way back when.

I went again much older with my new husband (a Disney vetran). I was actually pregnant with my first daughter at the time. The first time I felt the magic was as we entered MK under the bridge and I saw Main Street. It was Christmas time and there was a huge Christmas Tree. I can not describe the wonderful excitment and pure joy I felt. It rather surprised me that I could feel this way about a theme park (which of course it isn't). Initially I almost felt a little silly but it brought out that undeniable kid in me again in a way I never expected. A Magical Moment.

I've a had few magical moments in my life with my two girls. The moments when all is right in the world, the love for your children is so wonderful it hurts (in a good way) and tears are brought to your eyes. One of those special moments was brought to me by Disney magic. My oldest daughter is named Aurora (hence my screen name) actually named for the Northern Lights. We were at Disney and both my girls were dressed as princesses as we were going to CRT. Aurora was Sleeping Beauty (of course) and my little one Princess Jasmine. We saw Sleeping Beauty as we entered the Park. I just knew we had to meet her. The line was not to long but as we approached the CM handler said they were leaving soon so not seeing any more people. My heart sank a little. As politely as I could I said this is my daughter and her name is Aurora. That was it the she took over and loudly announced no more after this family right here, pointing to us. This will be the last family.

My daughter was 5 at the time and very shy to meet characters in general, never mind Sleeping Beauty. When we appraoched the handler actually introduced them. Then something happened like pixie dust sprinkling down over us, Sleeping Beauty actually knelt down to my daughter to shake her hand. I started to tear up to see their interaction. SB told my daughter she'd never met anyone with the same name and how wonderful she thought it was. She admired my daughter's dress and my daughter told her she was going to Cinderella's Castle. It was a Magic Moment for me as a mother. You can not explain that to people who think Disney is "just" a theme park. You have to Believe.

I feel so privileged to be able to share a story with those who "get it". Thank you. Please share your Magic Moment with me.

My dd (4 at the time, now 5) is a Disney FREAK!!!! I'm talking, she has all the princess costumes, her bedroom is all Disney princesses, knows all the movies by heart - - you get the point.
Well, we happened to enter the Magic Kingdom about 5 minutes before Cinderella's Surprise Celebration was about to begin (which got us to the "hub" around that time) - I have never seen her face like this before and probably never will again! The absolute AWE in her face was amazing, to see all her princesses come out as if to say hello upon her entry!!!!! I will never forget that magical moment in time!

My kids have done Wonderland, Marineland, and the Lion Safari, but nothing equaled the moment they walked down Mainstreet Disney. From Playhouse Disney Live to the Tower of Terror, Space MOuntain and the Haunted Mansion, there is no other place like it.
My favourite memory will be the look of wonder my kids had at the night parade. My daughter is too young to remember seeing the Hometown Disney Parade when it stopped here in 1999, but she will never forget the parades she saw last November, and all they can talk about is going back this October.

What a great post.

Princess Aurora, we share much in common. My wife and I went last year at Christmas for our Honeymoon and walking down Mainstreet with the tree and the the decorations was truly magical.

Another magic moment for me was watching the second showing of SpectroMagic in a nearly deserted Liberty Square. The music and the lights
were just amazing. It seemed like we were the only guests in the park.

We were lucky enough to return a few months later when DW was pregnant with our daughter. It was great to stroll around the park and dream of the day that baby will be old enough to visit for the first time.

I think that Main Street is the only place in the world where a grown man can skip down the street and feel right at home.

One of my favorites was a night in MK when we thought we would ride Splash Mountain one more time. We timed it perfectly and the fire works were going off just as our boat made that high outside turn. My whole family had a look of pure joy on their face that I will never forget.

I think for myself as well it is stepping through the gates at magic kingdom. I also get a little giddy when I drive up to the Walt Disney World sign on your way into the resort.

Probably my favorite memory was taking in the MVMCP a couple of years ago. The park seemed almost deserted for a couple of hours. No line ups, no congestion. At some point in adventureland it seemed as if we crossed a line to somewhere we shouldn't be because there wasn't a soul in sight. Man, just thinking about it sends chills down my back. Thank goodness it's only 7 more weeks. :goodvibes

You brought tears to my eyes Princess Aurora!

Disney is Incredible. My DD and I made our 1st trip last September, and it was my wife's 8th. We bought AP and already went back in December. We are going in April/May and are also planning a trip in September.

If anyone says the words Disney or DisneyWorld around my 18 month old she will say All Aboard and start making train sounds.....

The 2004 official ParK Music CD starts with the Walt Disney Scenic Railroad.... :teeth:

You know the song lyrics " You don't always know what you got till its gone" While there we had Magical Moments throughout, like the CM in Animal Kingdom who got my DD a new Pal Mickey after she left him in the washroom, or the tears in DW's eyes when DD was meeting Cinderella. For me it was the last night of our trip, watching Wishes and walking down mainstreet getting hit by the realization you were going home tomorrow. That disappointment turned out only to be fuel for the determination that this once in a lifetime trip will be done again, and not in the 3 to 5 years we originally thought that night but in 14 months from the last trip.

P.S. anyone on this board who does not have the game Disney Scene It, we strongly recommend it. Santa gave it to our 8 year old DD and we love it, except for the fact the 8 year old DD kicks our butt constantly. She even refuses to be given the kids questions. :cool1: DD, :confused3 DW, :confused3 me

ITA ... we love this game. When we first started playing, we tried teams (DH and DS who's 4 and me and DD who's 7). Well, we quickly learned that they can both beat us hands down -- except that DS can't read the on-screen instructions so we have to help. I must be missing something ... where do you find different questions for kids? My kids are especially good at the "all plays" where they show you four pics and you have to identify the movie. They always get the answer onthe first pic, whereas I would be lucky to get it after all 4 were shown. :rotfl:

The questions for the music or three things, and the other category, our game has some that are more greenish and others that are more yellow. I think the instructions say that the yellow ones are meant for kids and are easier. I know what you mean about the all plays, before the scrambled picture starts moving she gets it right. The sound clips are usually our only chance.
