Hi my husband and I will be joining you for our first (and hopefully not last), Disney Cruise. It is just the two of us as our daughter is all grown up, so it will be lovely to meet up with some other people

Our family is looking forward to our 2nd DCL experience. DH, myself and DD--4. DS--6 are excited! Do we have any FE groups yet? We would love to participate again!

Setting up FE group

It appears there are some of you who are interested in a Fish Extender group. There isn't one currently set up here on DISboards. Here's a little write up on how FE groups are set up:

There really are no "rules" as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private), or directly on the Cruise Meet thread, to confirm everyone on it is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about"anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped"at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as the reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

We just did the Galveston to San Juan on Jan 4, 2016 & participated in two fish extender groups. The main one had 12 staterooms & the second was a group of five staterooms that booked last minute & we participated with them to give them extra folks to exchange with. I didn't organize the groups, but I have the excel list template with color coding from both that helped tremendously. It breaks down each stateroom in the group by names, ages, male & female, stateroom number, favorite characters, special celebrations like first cruise, honeymoon, etc, whether the adults in the stateroom drink and any allergies. I'm happy to email it to you use as a template for organizing the groups. It was invaluable to me as I ordered a lot of personalized gifts from etsy for our group from the info on the list. I also included wine in our gifts for the adults in our group that drank since the alcohol policy just changed making it harder to bring on board.

I will tell you, we had a lot of last minute bookers & several of us didn't want anyone left out, so we joined the last minute group, too, so they'd have more participating with them. So, just heads up.

i see this is a small group so far. We just today started thinking about taking a DCL cruise this summer.
Originally, we were going to try for the Harmony, but i'm rather disappointed in Royal's behavior of late, so all of a sudden i thought, why not DCL (we've been on three DCL cruises in the past).
And i thought early september would be the perfect time.
so a question for those of you on this cruise - do you know where you'll be staying in barcelona? how you'll get to the port?
i have to start doing my research as i hadn't planned on cruising out of barcelona

Hello all you fellow cruisers! We JUST booked our very 1st Disney Cruise!!! And, I love Disney...our kids were jumping up and down when we told them!! (Ages: DD 12, and DS 10) We decided it was finally time to do this, because our daughter will age out of the Disney Kids Club in November, so we did NOT want to miss this experience!! We are pulling them out of school and had to get special permission from 2 principals to do it...but...we're going!!! If the FE program does get up and running...we might be interested??? This is my very first post!! Looking forward to this wonderful vacation with you all!!!

Let me know if you would like to join. I would need your stateroom number and the names of who will be joining. Please remember, if you sign up and choose not to attend, your stateroom will still be charged $20pp. You can cancel up to a week before we sail.
