age appropriate ride for a 11 and 14 year old at MK- haven't been in awhile and someone said there were only a couple of rides they may like- don't want to spend money on ticket if it's mainly for the younger set- went in '99 when they were 5 and 7.

I would definitely still take them to MK! While a lot of fantasyland is geared towards younger children, the rest of the park is still very cool for older kids and much, much older kids! ;)
If they are into coasters, they will definitely want to ride Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain. The Haunted Mansion is always fun, as are the Tea Cups, Pirates, Mickey's Philharmagic, and Buzz Lightyear. If they are still interested in the old fashioned fun rides, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, the Astro Orbiter and the Jungles Cruise should be fun. My favorite ride as a kid is still my favorite today - the TTA (tomorrowland transit authority) takes you on a leisurely ride through Tomorrowland and a few of the rides.

Hope this helps!

In September my DS (12 1/2) really enjoyed the MK. His favorites were: Space Mt, Splash Mt, Big Thunder Mt, Philharmagic, Buzz Lightyear, and Haunted Mansion. He also enjoyed (somewhat to my surprise) Small World, Tomorrowland Transit, Pooh and Peter Pan.

Wow! I think you got some bad information. My kids are now 9, 10, and 13 and they still LOVE MK and all things Disney. :earsboy: There are way too many fun attractions to list, but I'll name a few: Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Buzz, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, Mickey's Philharmagic, and all the classics in Fantasy Land. The only thing my boys have banned is Small World. You could check out some of the Disney guidebooks to research attractions. Epcot, MGM, AK, and the waterparks are also SO MUCH FUN FOR KIDS (and grown up kids) :)

There are rides for older kids as MK....Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, even though I didn't care for Stitch's Great Escape, it's at MK too!

Have a magical trip!

My kids still love MK too . . .DD is 16 and DS is 12 . . .last year they even got in line for Dumbo ::yes:: DH and I went by ourselves in October and we spent most of our trip at MK . . . :teeth: You are never too old for MK! :wizard:

Just a thought: I think the park is more "grown up" (or "cooler") at night.. Cool lighting affects, fewer kids and depending on the night, very little wait. Buzz or a Mountain 5 times in a row could make MK their favorite park.

I agree with everyone elses opinions here! If I had to only pick one park while there that truly does the whole idea of "Disney" it would be the Magic Kingdom. Some of the other parks have better thrill rides, some of the other parks are more educational, but for total family fun for EVERYONE you just cant beat the Magic Kingdom!!!!!

Can you really say you've been to Disney World without going to Magic Kingdom? I think not! :earsboy:

Thanks for all your input- i was a little surprised when my friend said that- I thought the Magic Kingdom was for all ages too!!! So many people go when the kids are too young to even appreciuate it- I think when we get back that way we will go for sure!!

Oh no! There's loads for them to do - you'll have the opposite problem, trying to fit it all in in one day! My boys were 11 and 8 last summer when we went and they both agree (along with DH and I and our baby :)) that MK is the BEST! They adored the atmosphere, which is truly magical, and they went on a ton of rides. Use the fastpass system, it's great. Their favourite attractions were Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad, Mickey's Philharmagic (we saw this 3 times, it was absolutely wonderful and they still talk about it), Space Mountain and Peter Pan's Flight (this was very, very relaxing and just lovely) and Pirates of the Carribean as well as Haunted Mansion. As I say, you'll be wondering how to get it all done!! And don't miss Wishes, the fireworks show before the park closes - it's beautiful, I'm sure they'll adore it. To be honest, if you never went on a ride, just seeing the park itself is magical as it's truly beautiful! :)

We were there last May.

I can't begin to list all the rides my DD11 loves.
She's very excited...we leave in less than 2 weeks.

She is also very into the character autographs & pin trading.

It is definetely worth it, in my opinion, to take your kids there.

I recall being a "too cool for everything" fifteen year old. My parents took me to MK and they had their daughter back for a few days. No one is ever too old for MK! Fifteen years after that particular trip it's still my favorite park! :earsboy:

My son thought he was too old for MK until he started playing VMK, (disney's online game.) Now he begs and pleads to go to Mk so that he can do the VMK stuff and buy stuff to get him the cards.
