Magic Kingdom Welcome Now @ 8:40 AM

So will they let guests into the park 10 minutes early too?

Yes,but it is possible they may still hold Guests until 9:00 once they have reached the different entrances to the different lands.

Also,I meant to type 7:50 instead of 8:50 for AM EMH.

Man that's awful early. Perhaps it's just for the summer crush?

We were there last week and the welcome show was at 8:40, we were though the gates by 8:50 and although we weren't held off when we reached Adventureland, we did have to wait till 9 to ride. Still was nice to be back there with pretty much no one else :)

Thanks for the report.:)

So YOU were the Guests that didn't go STRAIGHT to A&E or SDMT!:)

Thank you for the update!! We had no idea and missed the show twice as a result. Also noticed the park opens earlier- that was nice. We were able to ride 2 rides before 9 yesterday. The mad dash to A&E and SDMT has really changed the crowd level at MK in the mornings.

Whats the best route to get to SDMT first thing in the morning? We apparently went the wrong way at rope drop and found a looong line when we got there.

2. found a looong line when we got there.

1. Straight through the Castle gates.

2. No doubt.

There can be many guests who have early restaurant ADR's or early BBB hairstyle reservations...
and can beat the front-gate crowds to popular attractions.

Hesitate to differ with Robo, but many have reported veering right before castle toward the tea cups will get you to SDMT entrance a little faster, avoid the "crush" in the castle, and if running a little behind the front of the line, will also get you quicker to the end of the SDMT standby queue.

Are any others considering changing it up and doing Adventureland/Frontierland or Tommorrowland first and then hitting Fantasyland with FP+ for SDMT, A&E, PPF, EtwB, etc... in late morning/early afternoon (assuming these FP+ times can be obtained), to avoid the masses.

I'm wondering if the pre-opening ADR is becoming not quite as good a strategy as it used to be? I loved getting to walk down an almost-empty Main Street with my pre-opening ADR, but I have been unable to secure one for our Nov trip (will keep trying). Is it now possible to enjoy that perk without an ADR? If so, what's the best strategy--get there an hour before opening so you're first in line?

Wow, thanks guys, I got some great responses! The absolute best way is apparently still being debated, but either way is better than what we tried.

So with the new rope leading people in, where are they held until 9:00? From pictures I saw it looked like everyone was being held in the hub? We have a Crystal Palace ADR for 8:10, so I'm wondering if we'll be held at a central rope area, or if we'll be able to go to whichever land we're starting in and wait at the rope there like you used to be able to do.

ETA: I just watched Josh's video from Dan's post, so I get how the rope works, but what about if you have an ADR and come out before the crowd? Thanks!

When we were there in mid- May - we were not allowed to take that path (blocked by a CM) in the initial rush. He said we had to go through the castle (we were going to see Merida). After a bit that path was opened up - by then we were already in Merida's line (so I'm not sure when it was opened but it was after we had already walked through the castle and circled down by the Wishing Well).
