Hi:

When I made my reservation to stay at the Contemporary with Disney, I was told I could request a MK view, but that it could not be guaranteed.

How can I increase my chance of having my wish fulfilled? Does it matter when I check in? I am staying on the 12th floor, so should I contact the concierge? Any secrets?

This is my first trip; I am a nervous wreck about these finer details hoping to make this trip for my children as magical as possible.

Thank you in advance for all your help. Everyone on these boards has been extremely helpful.

Peace
:D

Definitely contact concierge and make them aware of all your requests. :) Also check-in early! That always helps. :)

Back in '92, I attended the 1st Disneyana Convention, which was held at the Contemporary. My friend and I reserved a tower room. Conventioneers were told to come on a Thursday, as the ice cream social was to be held that evening. We decided (so very smart of us!) to arrive a day early, and because of this, we were able to snag the very last MK view room at the Contemporary. Any of the rooms on that side have a great view. Your view changes with the time of day: early morning sunrise, mid-day full light, sunset, twilight, and maybe best of all--nighttime with all the myriads of lights around you from the Poly, GF, monorail station and MK itself. Have a wonderful time and I'm hoping you get the MK room view you want!:D :D :D :) :D :)

All the best, Wilma:wave:

I would contact the concierge about your request. Relax though, your kids will have a MAGICAL trip no matter what your room view is! I tend to obsess about the details also, but everything turns out fine in the end. :)

Call 3 days before you leave tell them again try to talk to the room controller then fax your requests. Good luck
:p :bounce: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I listed the preference on my reservation and on the sheet the concierge sent us, and when we checked in (around 2:45PM on a Friday between the Christmas/New Year holiday) they said our request had been granted. We did have to wait for 15 or so minutes for the room to become ready (they offered us a bay view room that was ready at check-in, though). It really is a nice view - - - as long as you don't look down and see the parking lot and service road, LOL

I was under the impression that if you were staying on one of the concierge floors, that your view in the tower was guaranteed. Is it only for the 14th floor that this is true? Maybe THAT's why the people on that floor pay almost double the price just to be one floor higher...

Only the 14th floor suites have guaranteed views - - - all the concierge rooms on the 14th only have a request basis.

Should I expect a concierge sheet? When should I expect such a thing?

Also, thank you all for your help and insights...keep the ideas coming! I would not know these things otherwise.

I hate to disagree with Disney, LOL, but I'm sorry, for at least $500 per night you should be guaranteed your view. That's just ridiculous to make it a request basis for rooms where you're paying that much.

Before we rip dear Uncle Walt's underlings, perhpas I wasn't clear that I am staying in the Tower Club (12th floor), and I am getting AP rates for the stay. I agree, that if I were paying $500 a night, which I am not, I would want a guarantee for my view. From what others have posted, the 14th floor, the REAL Concierge floor, a view is guaranteed.

I'm new; what do I know?

Again, thanks for the insights.

Peace.

But, that is only when booking a suite, beginning at over $1000 per night. The concierge rooms on the 14th floor are booked with either 2 queen beds or 1 king bed (seperate booking categories), but still only have their view as a request basis.

WOW...I cannot imagine spending that much for a hotel room, whether at Disney, or elsewhere. I am reaching maximum threshold @ $300 per night (tx included).

BTW...I did receive my concierge itinerary in the mail today and will make a note regarding my wish. It was also interesting to note that there is a spot on the form to request a spot at Cindy's Table for breakfast. Although I already have ressies for 1/1, can the concierge get those with relative ease?

Thanks everyone.

Peace:)

How do the floors/views/levels work at the Contemporary? Are certain floors concierge and the rest 'regular' How many floors/room can you see the MK from? How high up can you get without being concierge. Any shot at a MK view with a standard Tower room?

Here is the breakdown:

Tower Park/Bay View Category
Bay View floors #5-11 (168 Rooms)
MK View floors #6-11 (144 Rooms)

Tower Club Category
Bay View floor #12 (24 Rooms)
MK View floor #12 (24 Rooms)

FOURTEENTH FLOOR ACCOMMODATIONS
Two Queen Bed Concierge Room - Bay or MK View
One King Bed Concierge Room - Bay or MK View
One Bedroom Suite, Bay View
One Bedroom Suite, MK View
Two Bedroom Suite, Bay View
Two Bedroom Suite, MK View
Vice-Presidential Suite, (I *think* Bay View)
Presidential Suite, MK View

The 14th floor concierge lounge does have two balconies with a MK view. Those balconies are large (as are all balconies on the 14th floor).

What makes the Tower Club rooms different?

The only difference is they (club rooms) are on the private key-access only club (12th) floor, and have the club level amenities (continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, concierge assistance, complimentary refrigerator and bottled water in room, nightly turndown service, and coffee maker).

Thanks so much, that sounds great, but at the risk of souding like a total deluxe idiot, what's the difference between club rooms and concierge? And do you pay extra for MK view, or do you just request and it's the luck of the draw?
