Magic Kingdom Touring - December 30, 2016, Please Review

Hi.

Can you please take a look at my plans for December 30, 2016 for Magic Kingdom.
We are a family of 4, with kids dd-23 and ds-18. As of now both kids coming, but my ds may stay back in the morning since we all will be back for the 3 am closing that night.


Magic Kingdom
Touring for Morning. Plan on arrive at MK at 6:20 am - 6:30 am latest for 7 am opening.
Two years ago, MK opened at 6:40 am on December 27.

Mine Train - (My family doesn't care if they do this but I would like to do. If it will take too long and back up my plans)
Peter Pan
Pooh
Small World
Haunted Mansion
People Mover
Carousel of Progress
Hall of Presidents

Leave before/after lunch

5:20 pm DINNER: Turf Club at SSR


Magic Kingdom, Touring for Evening. We plan to be back for our 9:30 pm FP:

9:30 pm FP Big Thunder Mountain
10:30 pm FP Space Mountain
11:30 pm FP Buzz Lightyear
Mickey’s Philamagic
Other rides we want to do in evening.

We may/may not do parade and/or fireworks. We are from NY and have had our share of both
but I may have us do the last parade if we want a little break and then back to rides. My kids want to stay until 3:00 am. We are not doing any parks on NYE. We have dinner ressies at Boathouse in DTD so we can sleep in on NYE.

I think your plan sounds very manageable! However, if you want to ensure that you can get your first 8 things done before lunch I would try to get there closer to 6 than to 6:30. If you are not as close to the front of the crowd you run the risk of getting off 7DMT and seeing that PP has a 30 minute wait!

You are correct. I really need to be at MK closer to 6:00 am. I know my dd-23 will be onboard with me but dh and ds, not so sure but
we will get there closer to 6:00 am. I am thinking I need to look for Uber since there is no way the busses will be operating at 5:30 am, I think that is correct too
but I am at a loss with the busses, I have no clue. Usually we go end of August or September, this is the first time at Christmas (although we have been at Easter) and I am planning for the worst so need to be totally prepared.

If we get to MK at 6:30 am due to traffic or no Uber available, I will just skip 7DMT, do you think that will work?
Maybe I can do 7D at 2 am?

I agree it sounds great. It does not seem over- ambitious, and you have timed things nicely. I would just decide if 7DMT or PP is your priority. When you get off whatever you choose, you can either do the 2nd choice if wait time is reasonable, or skip it. If you skip, it, keep an eye on the wait time in those late late hours, and maybe you can go then. I will be there the same day! But, likely as you leave in a.m. It is our checkout day, so we are just doing our FP from 9-11, and then leaving. Thanks for the tip about early opening, as we do have a rope drop at 7 (now earlier) planned earlier in the week. I just have to see if I can drag my DH along. My kids and I did a 7 am rope drop last year the same week, and it was awesome. Still dark walking down Main Street!

Yes, I have a picture of us walking down Main Street behind the cast members and it is dark. 7DMT is not a priority to my family and I have been on since
I also take trips with my mom but it is a ride they have never done before. Maybe I skip it and plan to do it between 1 am -3 am. Do you think that
sounds like a better plan? Maybe I will look at the 7DMT line times beginning Xmas Eve and up until December 30 and see what the times are
closer to park opening.

Two years ago when we were there at Christmas we expected lines to be essentially nonexistent after midnight (the park was open till 2), but found that at 1:45 am wait times for the headliners (7DMT, PP, Space) were still close to if not over an hour long. If I were you I would ride PP at rope drop and then try to do 7D, depending on the wait time posted. If not you can wait and keep an eye on it for later!

Thank you. Last night when I was awake in bed about 3 am, I was thinking the same thing LOL
My family doesn't care about 7DMT so we will not do unless lines are 20 minutes or less between 1 am - 3 am.

I think your plan it totally fine. We go all the time at the busiest time of year and we always hit Space Mountain and then Peter Pan. We never have to wait long for PP. We do really like the mine train better at night though (my kids are older too and they love the mine train at night).

Are you skipping the NYE fireworks? It would be very rare but have a plan B if you can't get back into MK after dinner. There is 2 fireworks showings including the NYE version and the place will fill up starting about dinner time. smart move on fastpasses during that crowd time.

I'm going in mid afternoon with no plan to do anything just to make sure I'm in.

Also, on PP, you want a little bit of a wait to see the queue. If the queue is moving too quickly, you don't get to see stuff much.
