Went to the Parks yesterday, Monday 11/16. AK in the morning, left to eat late lunch/early dinner, then to MK around 5:00pm. At arrival was pleasantly surprised that they were now open until 10:00pm rather than the published 9:00pm.

Anyway, as we were getting on the tram (we're locals) at approx 10:15pm to go back to our car I noticed what had to be at least 75 people in one of the buying ticket lines. Does anyone have an idea as to why that many people would be there buying tickets when all the parks were closed for the night?

One other thing I've noticed is that somewhat frequently when we've left MK at or near closing time, on a day with no nighttime extra magic hours, there are people getting off the monorail going into MK--never did understand why---can or do groups reserve a Park after hours for company functions or something like that?

Thanks in advance.

I believe there was some sort of special event last night at MK (and tonight) and the people at the ticketing window may have been checking in for.

As for the late entries, anyone is allowed to enter up until park closing, so it makes sense that some people would. Maybe they have a late dining reservation, maybe they want to get one last ride in, or do some shopping. I have never gone to MK close to closing, but I have walked into DHS 10 minutes prior to for Fantasmic.

Tonight, Tuesday 11/17, is the MVMCP and MK closes at 7:00pm. Was the special event from last night you mentioned a private function?

These are after-hours events, so yes they would be private functions. The information I have is limited to the fact that there would be overnight audio impacts. Nothing more specific was given.

People do rent out the parks overnight. Also I believe if people have castle photo packages with their on property wedding it can be pre-park opening or post park closing.

When my fiance and I were planning to do a Disney wedding (we axed that) we were going to have our reception in Hollywood Studios and rent out Pixar Place and the Great Movie ride. So our party of 300ish people would have been in DHS for a couple hours past park closing and the hard close. Still think it would have been cheaper than our NYC wedding is staking up to be.
