Wanting to plan escape wedding foe mid November. Just talked to the wedding coordinator and she said there is construction around the castle and they are unsure of when it will stop. Therefore, maybe no photo shoot available! Help! This is very important to me and something I really wanted but I also really want my November date. Has anybody heard anything at all about this? Or when it should stop??

There are a lot of blackout dates in November even when there isn't construction, due to the decorations and preparations for the holidays. We were married in November 2012, and the blackouts went from august through February 2013 that year. The construction in the Hub is supposed to last into 3rd/4th quarter 2015. You can come back and do a photo shoot after the fact so if you want November and a shoot and can't do them at once, you do have another option.

Wow thats a long blackout! Well I saw someone on another thread has it booked for June. I had no idea you could come back...you mean at anytime? Can you come before (if that was at all an option). I just really dont want to give it up we were thinking of doing both MK and Epcot, but MK obviously being most important because of the castle.

So 2012 was a bit of an anomaly due to new fantasyland construction. That said, construction in the hub will probably be handled in a similar manner.

We were told originally that we had to come back within one year, and then were subsequently told we could come back anytime. It seems the one year limit is being relaxed.

They are still doing shoots now, so you really could be fine.

We were offered a date in early October 2012 if we wanted it. Which wasn't possible since we live in PA - couldn't swing that less than a month before the wedding. So you could possibly do it a bit before.

My wedding is on November 14 and I have a magic kingdom shoot Monday the 17th. My planner told its pretty hard to get a session in November as black out dates and construction can change things. Back in Feb she told me the 17 18 19 and 21 of November were available the week after my wedding and then the black out dates start but again she said the can extend them. So even tho im booked they can cancel it at anytime and im pretty much expecting them to.

Thank you guys! We live in SC so if need be could try our best to swing it before or maybe after. Knowing I have options makes me feel a lot better. I may opt for the MK and Epcot shoot, do Epcot and keep my fingers crossed for MK. How was the weather for your November 14th wedding? Where did you get married?

We had our Portrait Session last month and the cranes were up. We were told 2 weeks prior and we were very disappointed that there were shots we couldn't get particularly the moat shot.

Our photographer was creative. Even with the cranes, he was able to hide them using some landscaping and we were able to get our castle shot. We just got the pictures back after a month and we were actually happier with the Epcot shots over the Magic Kingdom ones.

It wasn't ideal but we couldn't see ourselves rescheduling and having to lug her dress and my suit back down to WDW months from now. Actually, I'm kinda glad we didn't postpone it seeing as this may run for another 7 months.

It's out of Disney's Photography's hands. They have no control over what the parks do. Our options were they could photoshop some stuff or our photographer be creative, do another park or come back when construction is completed.

It's really up to you.

I was told by my contact at DPS that once you have a DFTW, you can do another MK shoot at any time......

This was a couple of years ago, but I haven't heard anything to the contrary. We're hoping to do an Escape VR in 2019, so we'll do another one then I think. LOL :goodvibes

The moat is full again. Also, you can come back anytime to do a MK shoot if you are a Disney bride. My wedding date was blocked out so we are doing a shoot 2 days later :)

Anytime? Reason I ask is because the DF isn't ready to fork out the monies for an MK shoot during our wedding in February 2015 because we will have other expenses and the castle isn't his priority. I am still trying to convince him that it's a rare experience, but we'll see -_-

I say this with a caveat, because the rules change a lot...but my planner has said that if we're unable to do our MK shoot in November when we are hoping to (our wedding is Sunday November 16, we are hoping for MK shoot on 11/18) that we can come back anytime in the future and do it, as long as there is availability (and we are willing to pay the money). I had originally heard within 1 year, but at the moment "anytime" seems to be what they are saying.

We won't be able to reserve our date until 45 days out because we are not using Disney photography for our wedding...and even then, even if we are told we get the date we are hoping for, it is my understanding that the park can cancel it (and often does) due to pretty much any reason they want to. So it's definitely a risk...but I really want those pictures as I am a castle obsessed girl, so we're going to try. We're DVC so if it doesn't work out, I'm relatively confident we could do it on another future trip, but the dress and tux will be a bit of a pain in the rear. Fingers crossed that it somehow magically works out during our trip...

Good luck!
Brooke

We are in the same boat - getting married 10/21, not using disney photography and have to wait until 45 days beofre our wedding to book the shoot.

Last time I emailed Michelle who looks after Wishes photography bookings she said that there was still good availability for our dates so fingers crossed it will stay that way, but it's so fickle who knows! We are lucky to be there 10 days after our wedding, then back for another 2 days after our cruise so we have a lot of different dates to play with

I was married last year on November 8. The MK shoot was not available on our wedding date not sure if it was blacked out or booked. We will be there this year for our year anniversary and I was able to book November 8 for the MK shoot.

I am still debating if i wear my wedding dress since I have to fly with it or if I just get a formal white dress. If I decided to bring my dress and they cancel it I would be so upset.
