How do you go about make a reservatoin at the kennel.

We are getting a new puppy--and I just had a....hmmmm moment. Can't head over to the parks for a whole day without taking care of him.

If he's a new puppy, he'll probably be more comfortable if you board him near home so that he doesn't have to go through all the trauma of the travel stuff. But if you do decide to bring him, the kennel numbers are as follows:

(407) 824-6568 -- MK Kennel
(407) 560-6229 -- Epcot Kennel
(407) 560-4282 -- Studios Kennel
(407) 938-2100 -- DAK Kennel

Cost is $ 6 per pet per day; $11 per pet overnight (for DAY guests at ALL kennels); $ 9 per pet overnight (for RESORT guests at ALL kennels). The Epcot kennel offers a dog walking service for $2.50 per walk.

Dogs must have proof of the following vaccinations: Rabies, D.H.P. (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza), Parvovirus, Bordetella. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Dogs without proof of vaccination will not be allowed to board at the kennel.

All guests are required to walk their dog at least once in the morning and once in the evening (twice a day). Dogs less than 1 year of age (puppies) are required to be walked 3 times a day. The Epcot kennel offers a dog walking service for $2.50 per walk.

All dogs and cats have to be a minimum of 8 weeks old to be kenneled.

Thanks--we live 90 minutes away...and he will be riding weekly to the pet stores and such so I am not too worried about that.

Just wanted to let you know if you have any questions about boarding and travel with your dog I bet they can answer all your questions on the camping boards. I know that most campers travel with their pets and would be glad to give you advice. :earsgirl:

You might check with your vet to see at what age your puppy is completely vaccinated for Bordetella - as I recall it takes more than 1 shot for them to be immunized for this. It's been several years since I've had a puppy tho and things may have changed...
Have fun - at WDW and with your puppy!

Great information -- I thank you, and Lucky thanks you!

I bring my cat every time - he has been around 50 times....

He stays at FW kennel - more room to run around.

the MK kennel is not at the MK - it is at the TTC - make sure the parking booth knows where you are going - come in as far to the right as you can get - you are going along the road like going to the Polyn...

at the light turn left - it is right after the bus depost.

or you can park your car in the MK parking lot and carry your pet to the TTC kennel before you get on the monrail to the MK.

this can be a problem - lots of people that go to the MK really seems to like animals - Spicey was taken out of my arms several times - thank goodness that he was and is a very friendly kitten....He is 18 years old -he has been going to WDW since he was 3 months old...

the problem with parking at the kennel is then you have to go to the MK parking lot - so add around 30 minutes to get back again....

bring stuff with your scent on it - and put it in the cage with him - that will help to kept him calm - and don't expect him to like being in cage instead of with you.

remember that you must walk him (they aren't surpose to clean the cages with the animals inside them)

the kennel CM are some of the best - they are really good with animals.

Epcot kennel will walk your dog for you - if you want - $2.50 per walk per day extra.

$6 per day for day guest, $9 for WDW overnight guest, $11 for offsite WDW guests overnight.

Joe, That is the cutest puppy I've ever seen! What breed is he? (I think you said it was a he...) :flower:

Thanks, Martha7. She (did I say "he"?) is a Tibetan terrier -- she was 12 weeks old in the photo. Now she's almost seven months old, but still just as cute.

Supposedly the breed dates back 2000 years. They were bred by monks in lamasaries in the lost valley of Tibet, cut off from the rest of the world by a gigantic earthquake in the 1600's (think "Shangri-La"), and unknown in the west until the 1920's. Never sold, they were only given to visiting dignitaries as tokens/bearers of good luck.

And, they don't shed, and are hypoallergenic.

We think she's perfect!

How adorable !!!

I highly recommend using the Epcot kennel for the walking service regardless of what park you'll be in that day. Coming back to walk the dog, especially at MK, is a huge pain and very time consuming. We no longer use the kennels because Cassie is happier just being left in the hotel, but I had no complaints about the kennels themselves. When we used them in December of 2003 you couldn't make a reservation. It was first come-first serve, but we had no problem.

Here's our new puppy. We don't get him until next week as he is from a rescue organization and he has to be neutered before we have him.

Thanks for all the information. I was just looking for the contact # and knew the location of the MK (TTC) kennel. But the EPCOT walking service is a new on for me. How very exciting. Wonder why they only do it over there and not the other kennels?

My wife has used the kennels at TTC when she visited WDW after a dog show in Orlando several years ago. They are nice but it can be a pain going back to walk your dog. They take really good care of the animals and my wife was pleased with the accomadations.

Epcot has the most CM's

TTC, AK and Studios don't have the room.

they put a fence up around their walk area and lights - so it needs space.

FW only has one person (most of the time) - and they also do the horse back riding, carriage ride at FW, haunted wagon ride, hay ride - so they say pretty busy - without the kennel - add the kennel and that is really a heck of alot of work for one person to do.

the other kennels at the theme park -only have to do the kennels.

one time we came there - the poor lady - had 40 dogs, 2 cats to care for - plus around 15 people trying to give her money for the horses....

Since guests aren't allowed to touch other people animals - there was nothing I could do to help her.

I am sure some of those 15 people though she was being rude - she wasn't - a dog got sick and she had to clean it up....

These are adorable puppies! Lisa loves Pooh, your puppy's nose looks like a hidden mickey from the angle of the photo! I'll have to do further research on Tibetan Terriers, I had never heard of them! Good luck with the kennels, you guys. It's too bad you can't bring your dogs with you into the park, but then I can imagine the traffic jams that puppies would create, since everyone would be stopping to pet them! :goodvibes

I can't add to this post, as I leave my dog with a service at home, but I just had to say that you all have ADORABLE dogs! :sunny:

We left our two female kids Christmas Day at the MK (TTC) kennel. (What a RAINY day. ugh)
One of our dogs is a 100# (black lab). The other (half cocker/half lab) is 70#. And they need to be together.
There was a cage that allowed them to be together, but there was not a lot of room besides that.
The cages were stacked 3 - 4 high, with the littler dogs on top.
It was a very basic, formed plastic type cage, with a metal slat front. Not unlike what you would see at Petsmart as a pet carrier.
Bring your own doggie blanket and toys. The only thing provided was a metal bowl full of water clipped on the cage front.
There were outdoor cage size, fenced/cement block areas. The poor dogs out there that day looked miserable -- moping around in the cold, rainy air. There was an overhang roof. But it was just a miserable drizzle/downpour all day. And there was not much protection really for those dogs.
We knew we would be hopping, and not staying all day AND evening, so we opted for MK/TTC.
We showed all our dog paperwork at check in. We were told the CM attendees will require ID/proof when guests come in to walk their dogs.
We never were asked for ID when we walked them. And neither did we see any guest being asked for ID when coming in to walk their dogs. (And we saw several.)
That surprised us as not long ago Universal Studios had a dog stolen from their kennel. (They caught the thief on video as he left the building. But I would not swear Disney has this. We did not notice any security camera outside.)
It was a little unsettling to see anyone being able to be buzzed in the back to walk their dog. And a lot of guests were using the facilities over night. So they were arriving early inthe morning to walk their dog(s).

The facilities were clean, but they seemed to be short staffed. Of course it was Christmas Day.
It is nice to have the option of "dropping in" with pets.
I was told they do not accept reservations. It is on a first come first serve basis. But there are 5 kennels at WDW.

Question:

We're taking our dog in March when the park closes at 11:00 (MK). We like to stay until afte the park closes. We will leave at 11:00-11:10 (unless we must leave earlier for the dog).
How long do the kennels stay open to come get your dog to take home with you after the park closes? So if it closes at 11:00, what time do I have to be there to get him by?
