Magic Kingdom parking and tram

I need advice on parking at Magic Kingdom. I know that I'm really parking at the ticket and transportation center. My 80 year old mother will be traveling with me, and she has some mobility issues, but we don't have a handicap parking placard. Is it best to park in preferred parking? If so, how long is the walk to the monorail? Or is it fine to parking in regular parking and hope that there is a tram to take us to the monorail? Thank you!

The MK parking trams are running, so the longest walk would be if you're parked at the far end of a row and have to hike to the tram lane. I'm not sure how far that is. We've never parked in preferred parking, so I have no idea how far it is from the farthest out preferred space to the monorail, but I suspect it's farther than from the far end of a parking lane to the tram lane. Hopefully someone will come with better information.

Will your mother use a mobility aid, like a rollator (walker with a seat)? Might be helpful in the park as well as in the parking lot.

We're renting a scooter once we get inside Magic Kingdom. I'm pretty sure I can ask a parking attendant to let us park at the beginning of a lane. I just hope the trams will be operating. Thank you for your input!

A long time ago, CAA/AAA used to have paper vouchers they gave out for Preferred parking if you bought tickets through them. When we used it at TTC, it took us to somewhere in the circled area, which is actually just ahead of the last tram stop on that side. We walked from there beside the tramway, under Seven Seas Dr, to TTC, and it was if anything more walking than if we were parked far out and took the tram. There’s also a bit of downhill/uphill as you go under Seven Seas Dr.

Can’t give you a more recent experience though.

I’m thinking regular parking / tram / ferry may amount to the least amount of steps required, but it’ll depend how far “out” they park you from the tram.

An alternative could be getting valet parking at the Contemporary, but even though it’s a short walk, it’s still a walk from there to MK.

A last thought could be looking into third party scooter rentals and where they can “drop off” at Disney property.

Trams have not stopped at the so called handicapped parking. Trams cannot board scooters or wheelchairs and many of the guests directed to handicapped parking have these mobility aids.

Will your mother have.a small mobility aid such as a cane, or even a folding rollator, with her in the car?

Then as you make the turn into the parking aisle you go down a few carlengths. If you see its a long way to where the parking action is taking place, you jump out of the car line by making a U turn into the expanse of unfilled spaces. Head back to the tram lane . Now you have a chance to show the parking attendant the mobility aid while asking to park closer to the tram, without blocking traffic. The CM should direct you to prematurely commence building the next row of parking
