Magic Kingdom on Labor Day

We'll be there for Labor Day and that following week. In anticipation of making our ADRs next week, I'm trying to plan out which park we'll visit. We have 5 days in the park (we don't do parks on arrival (sun) or departure (sat) days.) We're skipping DHS, will do 1 day at Epcot & Animal Kingdom, 2 days at Magic Kingdom and leave one day open for whichever park we need another day of (that will be Fri.)

Magic Kingdom is a park to avoid on Mon, but I think I'd like to start our trip there. Would you avoid it? We do rope drops, take a break after lunch. We also though have small children, and waiting in long lines isn't fun with them. I feel like even though it says to avoid it, it isn't that crowded of a time to visit so it wouldn't be that bad of a mistake to go there.

Our trip was over Labor Day last Setember, Friday-Friday. I worried to but never experienced parks that empty and it was free dining time. Labor Day itself we spend at DHS. All rides that week at all parks were from 5-20 min maximum. Only TSM was crazy as usual. I do not think you will have any problems.

My husband and I were there in 2009 for labor day and the week after and it was wonderful! no lines on anything! we were able to ride splash mountain and stay on and go again. the longest line we waited in was Toy Story Mania and it was only a 20 minute wait. We were able to finish the parks by noon each day, go back and relax by the pool and then go out again at night! We are going back this year around the same time and I can't wait!

We are also trying Labor Day this year. Usually we visit in May, but due to our school testing schedule and activities, we cannot make it work this year. We will be there Friday-Tuesday. Trying to figure out our schedule so I can make ADRs next Sunday. Right now I have MK on Friday and Monday. Would love to hear from others that have been at MK on Labor Day (Monday) in the past. How were the crowds? Would it be better to go Sunday? I always try to avoid MK on Saturday!

We've always found MK to be empty ON Labor Day. We went a couple of years back and it was so empty it was almost eerie. Didn't stop us from taking full advantage of all the rides though!

We were there Labor Day week in 2008. It was by far the lightest crowds we've ever experienced. We like free dining so we usually are there in August-October, but we've also been in early December. Nothing compared to that week. By about 10 AM on our first day we were wondering if we were going to be lucky enough for the day to stay that light. It did, and the rest of the week was just the same. We used Fastpasses for exactly one ride - Toy Story. We were walking right on things like Soarin'. Incredible week I have not yet duplicated.

We were at the park for rope drop and that was fine, but as the day went on it got pretty crowded. When we went back to the park after dinner for EMH, it was jam packed where we couldn't even walk down Main Street without losing each other. That was the most crowded I've ever seen it since I was a little kid. Other than that, the crowds over Labor Day are awesome!!!

We will be at MK on Labor Day! We arrive 9/4 and will be there until 9/14. Can't wait! Love hearing about the low crowds. We have been the 3rd and 4th weeks of September before and loved it.

We were there that week in Sept. 2009. It was EMPTY! The one day they even closed down fast pass because there were no lines. We are planning on going back in August 2012, but need to go earlier due to my daughter's school. I am already stressing about the crowds the week of August 20th in 2012!

Thanks for the information. I guess we will stick with MK on Monday. I am just a little nervous that it may be more crowded with locals that day. But sounds like it will be better than Saturday or Sunday.

We visit that week every year (since 2002) and love it. The parks are not that crowded (even with free dining) and overall you will get alot more done b/c the lines are so much shorter. MK is the most crowded on LD itself b/c of the influx of locals on a break from school day, but it is not completely unbearable. With an abbreviated trip like that I would want to get more bang for my buck (less crowds and shorter lines) so I would avoid MK on LD for that reason, but if you aren't really concerned about packing your days full of rides and shows and don't mind some lines then head to MK, even with the holiday it won't be like a mid summer day or another high season day.

We have found that Epcot works best for us on LD unless its an EMH park, even when busy Epcot can just swallow huge crowds whole and during that slow season the park seems deserted b/c of that.

We were also able to get 2 or 3 extra fastpasses after our initial 3. I know we got an extra one for Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise later in the day. We also took a break in the middle of the day. We missed a few rides but nothing that was a must see. If we stayed all day we would have been able to do everything.

No Problem. We love going that time of year. Unfortunately we won't be able to go in September again for awhile. This kids have hit the age where we just can't justify taking them out of school anymore.

I am pretty sure they are having the MNSSHP that week. Not sure what days. We have wanted to do the party the 2 years we went but missed it by a day or so. In 2014 and this year they had the party Labor Day week.

Really? We were there 9/6-9/16 and space mountain, splash mountain, 7DMT were all very long lines- outside of FP. We were able to do space mountain on an EMH night with short wait times though.

OP- Labor Day was our resort and mini golf day. The line for the boat to MK before park opening was crazy long..it seemed to be like this all day..I don't know how crowded it actually was inside the park on that day though.

Yeah we originally booked Labor Day week because it has has Free Dining the last few years. We were super pumped when they moved up the Halloween Party! It is slated for Thursday that week, and can't wait to check it out.
