Magic Kingdom morning emh don't bother

While I can understand disappointment , there is still responsibility on the patron to do their own research versus assumption. Evening EMH is new to me as Disneyland does not have that , only mornings which we LOVE. We take advantage of it as much as possible when we stay on site , it makes all the difference. When I was planning our trip I found out about evening EMH and was in shock..I didn't know they had that , so within 10 minutes I found information which attractions will be open on our arrival night and planned accordingly including upgrading to 7 day tickets.

There is far too much information available to be blind to it and upset over it. If we make assumptions without information we can only blame ourselves.

We normally avoid morning EMH. Instead, we will rope drop another park. You may be able to ride one attraction without much wait, but afterwards it's crowded because of the EMH appeal.

Evening EMH is usually your better bet for less crowds. That being said, we were at Epcot evening EMH in early December and it was crowded.
Make sure you lower your expectations. Don't expect lower wait times than usual but feel good you are getting extra park time.

Personally, I would like to kindly comment that I don't think it is your fault that you didn't know that certain rides weren't open. I'm actually very thankful to have read your message because I also assumed that the park opening early, would mean that everything in the park also opened early. I wouldn't have thought to investigate this, taking it for granted that everyone thinks as I do. (Thankfully, in some cases, they do not). Haha.

I am sorry this ruined the EMH for you. I have planned an extra morning visit on my first trip to disney world next month. Enough is open, that for me, it will definitely be worth it to get up early, but I could see how that would dampen your experience.

We made the same mistake & thought everything was open at Easter time. We had planned Thunder but when saw it was not open thought what the heck let's see the Ice sisters. We were 3rd in line & out by 7:10.

I think a big difference in EMH is when it is. During Easter it was 7 am so we were up at 5:30 at the parks by 6:45 at the front (do not watch the opening show) and raced to the front. We did A&E the first day and 7Dwarfs the next two days.

With that early start less of a crowd then an 8 am start. Best part no fast passes so SB lines go quick!

We did a ton & then got in line for RD for Thunder at 8 was in the first car of the day for 3 days straight.

Tomorrowland and Fantasyland attractions, for years, have been the only open areas at MK AM EMH.
So, we plan to ride the attractions of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, and have a BLAST.

We have been attending and enjoying AM EMH at MK (and the other three parks) for years.
To assist the OP and others, I have been searching on the Disney site, but I cannot locate a list of EMH attractions.

All Disney provides is a disclaimer: "Please note that not all Walt Disney World attractions are available during Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours schedule and available attractions during Extra Magic Hours are subject to change without notice."

I can locate the data at other sites, but not on Disney's website for a list of attractions that are open during EMH..

Can anyone provide a Disney link?

And given the difficulty, I can understand the OP having a problem. Disney advertises the Parks are open, but only in fine print does Disney mention the limited nature of EMH. And apparently, Disney is not presently providing a list of those attractions which would be open.

Fantasyland was ALWAYS our fist stop when we did EMH (our touring style involves a lot more resort time these) it was great to knock out all the attractions you weren't willing to wait in a long line for, but didn't want to use a FP on. (I love Peter Pan as much as the next girl, but that line is brutal. Even with the new additions)

I only get to do EMH for my summer visits (when we're onsite) and you better believe I'll be in MK soaking up the ambiance, hopping on whatever is open and enjoying not feeling like I'm at a sweat lodge yet!

I'm not sure if I remember it correctly, but when you check in at your hotel, don't you get a bunch of flyers with park information? I think information on EMH is included in this.

For where you can find it on the website.
Go to the general page of the park and open the list of attractions. In the top right corner you can adjust the date. When you put it on for example April 30th, you will see the opening hours of the rides and if they are open during EMH

I think many veterans here are being a little hard on the OP. It's not necessarily common knowledge.
When Walmart advertises being open 24 hours, and I run out at five in the morning to get a quart of milk, I would expect the grocery dept. to be open. I'd be miffed if the manager said, "Sorry, but with a little research you would have discovered that only housewares and sporting goods are open." Disney's message to newbs is, the park is open one hour early for resort guests. Maybe they should say "select" portions of the park?

The Disney site is a lot of problems.

I am fairly certain they do.

On their own website, while they do specify what, they certainly specify that it is select attractions which clearly means not everything is open.

Haven't seen check in information in a while, but I don't think it states anywhere that the park is fully operating either.

Do we need to be hard on OP? No, we do not.

Should the OP be so harsh at Disney as though they deceived him? No--there was no deception. This has been ongoing for decades in one form or another and they have never claimed everything would be open in any variation if there was no intent to have everything open.

So if Walmart didn't claim only select departments would be open--I could understand. But keep in mind, there is no one in the deli, bakery, or meat department in the middle of the night.

I am personally looking forward to the AM EMH .. IF I can get my family up and rolling out of the hotel around 7:00 AM. It's a nice perk I am looking forward to.
I already looked up what rides would be open .. and that seems like enough .. anything else and you'd be trying to sprint from one end of the park to the other.

My question is ..
What do people suggest to hit during the morning EMH at MK? (I have a trip coming up in 4 months where we plan on hitting the AM EMH)
What to have fast passed for as early as possible after the normal hours start?

Especially if you have a 3 year old in tow (that we would have to rider swap for the big rides like Space Mountain and Seven Dwarves) ... and who also may not be able to make the "sprint" as fast as needed.

So is it easier to hit some smaller, (yet popular) headline rides like Buzz, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid and save early morning Fast Passes for 7DMT (if available)?
Or try and sprint to 7 Dwarves (with everyone else) and get the rider swap?
Is Storybook Circus open during EMH? (Is that considered separate area from FantasyLand?

Just trying to plan out my day (late August) with what to Fast Pass and what to try and hit in the early morning hours.
(I figure one of my Fast Passes should be going for Splash Mountain on a hot day! That line is always long .. even on cooler fall days)

We did early admission at 8 (not emh) last Saturday with my 3 year old and I'm pregnant. We walked leisurely to fantasyland stopping to take photo pass photos in front of the castle. We then rode (with no lines at all) teacups, dumbo x2, barnstormer, mermaid, visited Ariel at her grotto, and then with virtually no line rode pooh, small world, and haunted mansion. Went to the bathroom twice (pregnant!) and I think I even brought my daughter to the bathroom once. We were done with all this by 9:30. The lines were starting to fill out at that point, but when we walked by pan and 7dwarfs around 9 the lines were still not bad, maybe 20-30 mins, which I've learned isn't really 20 minutes. Anyway, because we did so much in fantasyland within such a short period of time (which was the bulk of what I thought my daughter would enjoy, it really freed up the rest Of the day for other stuff at a leisurely pace. ate cinterellas Royal table at 10 and home for a nap by 12:30.

I can see the value in the MK midnight-2am EMH, but are the evening EMH at HS and/or Epcot worthwhile? We are on the west coast so I do not know if morning EMHs are realistic for us.

HS and EP evening EMH are not as valuable only because they aren't open as late. Late EMH is 2 hours after official park close. EP closes at 9:00, so staying open until 11:00 just isn't that late and many people will take advantage of that. Add to that, the limited attractions at EP that are open for late EMH and you still have long lines. HS is the same...not that late and not very many attractions.

But some people still love them, and since you are on west coast time, I'd say go for it anyway. It will still be less crowded than during the day, just not the "walk on" that some people hope for.

I agree. Depending on where you look, I don't think it mentions select lands being closed or open, just select attractions.

I'm agreeing with the OP only in a sense, the link you provided clearly states 'select' attractions, but offers barely a clue to a layperson (non-Dis'er).

This missing data is an omission in my view. I seem to recall Disney having such data that was previously (before MDE) difficult to locate, now it's just gone.

AND

I'm also agreeing with you too - the information provided by Disney, what little it is, is up front about only 'select' attractions being open during EMH.

You nailed part of it - I too believe that many people (and I was this person not long ago) believe that if the Park is open everything is open.

Pretzels should be hot and popcorn should be popped just before the moment the rope is dropped....but that's not real life at the most magical place on earth......but my rhyme was fun....

I would agree with evening EMH, not morning.

I am a morning person - the earlier I am out in the world, the better. So, I much prefer morning EMH's :) I will say, we love evening ones, too, but we are more ok with skipping those than morning ones.

I don't think we are being harsh at all. If you are going on a trip to somewhere you have never been before and don't do your research that is fine by me, but you can't complain when things are what you imagined them to be. If you would like to know what you are getting yourself into the take a few minutes/days/months and do the research. Disney doesn't normally hide what they are doing, what rides will be closed, what hotels are being refurbished. It isn't in their best interest to, thought they always have the CYA line of "thing might change", but lets be honest they try not to deviate from the schedule if they don't have to. There are also a TON of non official sites out there that will give you all the information that you could ever want. Also when you check into your hotel they give you times guides for each park that include what is open during morning EMH and evening EMH for each park. So don't go out and tell me that Disney isn't forth coming with that information. Even if you didn't look it up before you went down you are giving all the tools you need when you check in to your hotel.

I have been to Disney on many times and have worked for the company. There are times that I still have to go and look up information. It doesn't take that long. I guess what I am coming to is you can't complain about something and not expect snarky remarks if you didn't take the time to do your research.

Morning EMH at MK has always worked well provided you get there before park opening. Any evening EMH, regardless of what park we've gone to, has been a crowded, sweaty mess.
