Magic Kingdom Hub Construction

Straight on photo of the castle looks easy enough to hide most of the construction areas - other than the one scrim on the left side if you are facing the castle. I'll be there in two weeks and was a little concerned about getting a good photo of the castle but I think it'll be fine.

Good news if you can get some quality pictures even with the ongoing project!

We're taking some first time visitors in January, and I'd love for them to see the castle without a bunch of construction. I'm still hoping it's wrapped up by Christmas.

Us too! Taking SIL, BIL and DN age 4, excited for them but nervous about ALL of construction at AK and MK.

The construction isn't too bad right now, and they are wrapping it up. The current unofficial random guess is end of October/Early November for completion. Many thought it would be done before the Halloween parties started, but that didn't happen. Disney isn't talking about it at all, so no official date. We were there last September (14) when half of the hub was completely torn up, and barely noticed it. Unless you look for problems, you likely won't notice them. They work hard at making the construction as unintrusive visually as possible. Pretty much all that is left is 1 new turret, and the ramps on either side of the Castle.

There is always some construction in all of the parks at any time, By January, I don't think there will be walls anywhere in MK. Currently its just the Skipper Canteen and the Hub, and both should be done by January.

The construction in AK is just as minor. There are walls around large sections of the lake for the install of the night show. That's about it. Avatar/Pandora is completely isolated from the rest of the park, and there is no real impact to the park. Except for a few tall cranes in the distance. Of course if thats an issue, then the MK will also have a crane taking down the xmas lights on the castle. It is down in the evening and at night.

Boufa is correct. Everytime we've been to WDW, there has been construction somewhere. I'm sure it's how they keep the place looking fresh, and so I'm ok with that. And I realize going in the "off season" (can it really be called off season anymore? lol) probably means more likely than not some things will be down for refurbs. But the main hub is the main focal point when entering MK down Main Street for the 1st time. That was the reason I was inquiring. I will say that being at WDW during the New Fantasyland construction and other projects that they do an excellent job hiding things. I also appreciate the attention to detail on all of the projects even though it takes such a long time to get something completed! For example we were there in January 2014 when they were starting the hub construction! It took/will take almost 2 years to get it completed!
