Magic Kingdom End of Night Fireworks

So you’re saying the post fireworks party is crowded? If the viewing area is crowded and then the dessert area I may cancel. I wanted a peaceful end of the evening. I can get crowds for free lol.
I answered your other post "I have a question about arrival time. Arrive at 8:20 is suggested, but to wait for an hour for the fireworks to begin is so long. Does anyone know how much leeway there is in the arrival time?"
I have not been to the Post Party but I know people start lining up earlier than an hour before.

Yes sorry about the confusion. The talk had turned to the fireworks party so I piggybacked on that. I still have concerns about how crowded it will be though because it will have both the pre and post party participants in the viewing area.

They aren’t managing crowd control as well anymore. They used to keep more walkways open, and not let 1,000 people arriving 2 minutes before showtime in to crowd a 20’ x 8’ space between the white box areas (they’d let a reasonable number of people in and then close again). They used to not let people stop on the middle of the bridges after showtime… they used to enforce that type of stuff more strongly. No matter how early we arrive and where we pick, they end up letting hundreds of people come smash us in and stand on our feet. Don’t remember that being typical 5-10 years ago. I don’t remember getting food and drinks smooshed and spilt on us all the time. Seems par for the course now.
I agree crowd management is an issue. I think some of it is training, some of it is shortage of stuff (much like a lot of places) but I think the majotity of it is people in general. People tend to not be as nice as they once were especially in crowded areas and it also seems (at least to me) people today are generally more selfish/self-cenetered. That being said I have interacted with some very nice people at WDW as well in the last couple of years

It’s not crowded by any means. No, the viewing area is not empty, there will definitely be people around you, but it’s not wall to wall people like out in the hub. At all. Anyone who thinks that viewing area is at all crowded is either comparing it to years past before they added the after fireworks party when the area truly was basically empty, or they’ve never done it during holiday party season. The difference between “gen pop” out in the hub on those nights (when MK is a madhouse bc the holiday parties cut hours during the week so there’s limited chances to see HEA) and the viewing area makes it very obvious.

We just did the after party last month, on a fairly busy evening at MK (unusually so imo, EEH was that night and it was the most crowded MK EEH I’ve ever seen). Outside the viewing area it was wall to wall people and you could barely move. Inside the viewing area people had enough space to spread out blankets if they felt like it, and even when they made us all stand as the show was about to start, there was a ton of space around us. If seeing the projections is important to you (and it should be for a first viewing imo), it’s definitely worth doing.
