no grand floridian?

it is pretty small but it's nice if you plan a year in advance and have firm plans.

MK DVC.......The Bay Lake Towers, you would be right there in the action or the Wilderness Lodge which is a short bus trip to MK. As others mentioned there is the Grand Floridian and booking now is the new Polynesian Villas.

Who's traveling? Is this an all parks trip? Or are you going to have resort only days?

I'd lean towards VWL. It's pretty darn hot in August. The walk isn't super long, but a good portion is not shaded. Therefore I would not view the location of BLT as a plus. And I personally wouldn't trade 2 studios for a 2 bedroom.

I think no matter how hot, the walk at BLT is clutch. Waiting in lines for monorail or busses is no treat either in the heat. Plus if you do want to do monorail from Contemporary, you wait inside. :) Love BLT.

Are you a owner, what are your likes and dislikes?

We own at AKV which we love... just need a break. We are theme park ppl. Never really a full day off. Usually stay in Epcot area for the convenience of walking to EP and HS

Since you are an owner then my recommendation changes.

It doesn't matter where you stay. Pick a resort, stay there, journal your thoughts, pros and cons. Next time stay at a different resort.

In a few short years you will have identified your favorite resorts and you can skip the rest.

BLT - 3 bathrooms and walk to MK.
Debbie posted my thoughts exactly. 7 people? You'll want the extra bathroom.

Plus AKV/AKL was designed by the same architect as VWL/WL. So if you're looking to take a break from AKV, then BLT will be a better choice.

I rule out the Poly option since you'd have to split your group up...unless that's something that you would find desirable. :)

My vote is BLT lake view 2BR and request high floor. It has three bathrooms, the twin size pull-out chair in the living room besides the pull out couch, and is about 80 sq ft larger than the 2BR at VWL -- its second bedroom is smaller but its living room is much larger than VWL -- and about 250 sq ft larger than two Polynesian studios, and, in case you are not aware, connecting studios is a request and not a guaranteed booking category at Poly, and of course you get no washer/dryer in the room at Poly. You can walk to MK from BLT, you have a boat to VWL and Fort Wilderness if you need to go to either, and though the design of the Contemporary leaves much to be desired it does contain one of the best Character meals on site at Chef Mickey's and one of the best table service restaurants, California Grill

We own at BLT and have been there twice in a 2 bedroom. Once in a dedicated 2 bedroom north side, with a view of the lake and Space Mountain. We even could see the Castle from the Master bedroom balcony. Great view. Watched Wishes from our sofa.....Location is far from the bridge to CR, but my boys are older so no problem.

Our 2nd visit was Lakeview 2bedroom lock off, we were staying with sisters family. We did not ask, but got the top, floor just a stones throw from the TOL. We had to use our key card to access our floor from the elevator. My boys felt very special. We were on the inner loop with a view of the lake.

BLT location is fantastic....walk to MK. Monorail to 2 other Deluxe resorts....boat ride to WL. Fantastic restaurants all around you. We love taking the boat to WL for an adult only dinner at Artist Point. Wishes from your room, the bridge or TOWL!!! EMP on BAY Lake. 3 pools in the CR/BLT Complex....Chef Mickey's....I can go on!

Good luck with your plans....I voted of course BLT☺️

Another vote for BLT lake view. I would ask for a 2 b.r. lock off if available (it is a request category), as it gives the other party a little more privacy, PLUS the added advantage of them having their own little kitchenette. They can make coffee and snacks without disturbing the people sleeping in the living room. Having three bathrooms is wonderful.

Studios at Poly = no washer/dryer and no walking to MK. Plus no room to spread out. No full kitchen and a small fridge.

WLV....2 bedrooms but only two bathrooms. I do notice that WLV would take a lot less points, though. It is also a lovely resort, but a little inconvenient. I remember the boat being crowded a few times at the busy times of day....we had to wait for the next one. We also waited a very long time for the Epcot bus....and I actually ended up taking the rental car and parking at Epcot (which I was trying to avoid doing). The resort is a very relaxing place, you feel very removed from the hustle and bustle.

Now, if you could snag a standard view at BLT, that would be great, but those are usually snatched up by owners. Points are about the same. And sometimes those views are not all that bad for the amount of points (my personal opinion).

Happy planning.
