I am looking for pictures and/or information from anyone who had or participated in a wedding at the swan boat landing at the MK.

I have some detail from DFTW website and the passporter guide, but.....i still feel uninformed. There are lots of viewpoints for most of the other ceremony sites, but in all the posts I have read, no one mentions the MK swan boat site. I really wish that I had an inside opinion from someone who has been there.

Thanks for all the help and ideas I am taking from other postings!!:

Every time we go, I try to get the definitive picture of the site, but it's pretty much impossible to do without a wide-angle lens. It's sort of down a hill from the castle, and they set the ceremony up with the altar out on the walkway and the chairs going back under the canopy of the Swan Boat Landing.

The "altar" is under the lampposts on the walkway in front of the Swan Boat Landing.

Thanks so much for the extra photos! so how does the ceremony work? bride does not come up the aisle obviously, so down the pathway from the castle? also, there would have to be a sound system so the people in the back can hear. Can the people in the back see alright? there is a column.

when the disney wedding discussion started it was an escape size event. now, we are up to wishes. this ceremony site sounds great but the logistics are unclear. thats why i was hoping that somebody who had done this site would fill me in.

getting married IN the MK runs something like 30K to start. thats for the ceremony location itself. i believe its always before the park opens and you don't do anything else there, no reception etc... i HIGHLY recommend passporter's guide to disney weddings and honeymoons (authored by the fabulous lurkyloo herself) - has tons of info!

Yeah! I actually joined the passporter club expressly to get to read the ebook on weddings! try explaining that to my DF who thinks modern bride is a questionable expense!!! ha!:rotfl2:

it is a HUGE FREAKING TON of money for just the ceremony, but this is not just for the two of us. we both have an assortment of short people we have collected over the last few years who are also involved and having their lives changed too. they are actually the reason we first considered having the wedding at disney. but we continued looking because we both love the place. it would just be so absolutely cooooool to get married in the MK.

i just can't see the framework for how it would work.

OK, so the way it works is, the couple starts out in the MK for a bridal portrait session around 6am. The bridal party arrives later to take pictures with them around the castle. The guests ride down Main Street, U.S.A. in the Main Street vehicles. After everyone is in position, the bride gets in the Landau Coach in Fantasyland and arrives at the ceremony site on that side of the garden. After the ceremony, they do a staged exit from the Rose Garden and then everyone travels together back down Main Street in the vintage vehicles to meet a bus and a limo in an area backstage.

Disney recommends a sound system for groups over 25, so yes, there would probably be one. I would think people in the back would see around the column because the chairs are positioned on either side, but I will totally go sit there in an imaginary Chiavari chair on my next trip to confirm this—I'm curious too! :cutie:

Carrie,

Those pictures are great!! It looks like you were able to get pictures right before an actual wedding was going on that day!

Can anyone walk down to that area during regular park hours? Assuming there is no wedding going on at the time. I'd love to walk down there and check out the area during our next trip if we are allowed to. We could never afford that, mind you! I would just like to walk down there for fun. :)

now THATS dedication!
:rotfl:

That particular picture came from a pal. Despite my pedigree as a wedding crasher, I have so far not been able to get into one at the Magic Kingdom! :lmao:

Yes! The area is open during park hours for anyone to enjoy. :goodvibes

I wonder how many weddings we could get you to attend in year, is there a Guinness record for the most number of weddings crashed? :lmao:

LOL I leave on Monday. AND I am pretty short, so I will see if I find the time to do some investigating and I will post pictures if I do. :goodvibes

Carrie,

You can come to my modest affair, crash away - after all you've been a background consultant for most of us! :thumbsup2

im going to WDW today and will be in MK for a little bit. im curious about how pictures will look from that point of view. Have a friend who is looking into a MK wedding, so i have to look at some things occassionally.

***didnt get there at all today. had nice time with friends and shopping.

Are ceremonies ever allowed in the magic kingdom at sites other than the swan boat landing? I know they were in the past, but what about recently?
