Magic Key questions

Hi all. I am almost positive that there isn't a MK thread for people to post questions at this point. I would love a place to be able to post my questions, and hear how to use the pass in the most efficient way, while I navigate my first time having one.

I have a trip booked in early February which will be the first trip we use a MK. I booked flights and a hotel for mid March as well and know I can book two more days as soon as the March dates open up. I'll need to wait until my February trip to book the other two days for my March trip. I also have a trip booked over Memorial Day weekend and that's the one I'm worried about. Anyone have experience with how fast the dates books up for holiday weekends? We are not staying on property. I'll have to wait until mid March to book two of our Memorial Day weekend days, we're going Saturday to Tuesday that week.

What about discounts? If I pay for the entire check for meals can I use the discount on everyone or just the people with MKs in our party?

Anyone have any tips for me being a first time MK holder? I'm just excited that I'll get to spend so much time with my daughter in 2025 at our happy place.

There is a lot of volatility with magic key date availability. You are likely to eventually get all the days you want even if you are not able to immediately book your May dates during your March trip. That said, I think it will be unlikely though obviously not impossible that Memorial Day will already be booked up by mid March. If it is, it is more likely that Disney is just holding back some dates and will open more up again before the dates arrive.

Yes, the discount will apply to everyone if you are paying the entire check at a place where discounts apply. You didn't ask, but I can tell you that you will not get a discount on lightning lane multi pass if you purchase it for people who do not have MKs, but you will get the discount for those who have MKs.

Can you make a discount reservation at a hotel prior to activating your key? I'm not activating until February but see discounts came out yesterday. I tried getting to the discounts and couldn't seem to get there so I'm wondering if it's because I haven't activated yet.

No, your key has to be activated.
