Magic in the Kingdom 2012! BIG 2/16/2014 FINAL UPDATE!

Maybe the girl was 12? There have been so many threads, I can't even go back and check. I tried to talk Drew into doing this on our last trip instead of Cirque. Maybe next time!

And yeah, 7 11/12ths is probably not quite close enough to 13 to pass for it. But these 3rd children sure do act a lot older than they are, don't they?

I typoed...it was supposed to say 8. I was watching TV at the same time...so you know not paying attention to what I wrote. LOL

So she was just 1 month shy of the limit then, but I didn't push it.

Did my emails go through to you today. It seems like my emails are slow again today as I am only starting to get some in the last hour since this morning.

They did. We were just gone most of the day. Just got back and am going through my emails now!

Janet, I've done the Trek twice and it was AWESOME!!! It was way back during the first couple of months it was offered so it was less expensive, but it was worth it then. And, the CD that we got was also awesome. It may have change since then, but I do recommend it.

Of course, Cirque and the Trek are totally different and it's nice to do both once.

I'm glad to hear that. I'll keep it on my Disney "to do" list. :)

Did you take any photos with your own camera? I'm thinking I read you could take your camera if it was well attached to your person with a strap?

scaryyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

I've been following the threads on the new age limit to enter the park. I woudln't let Katie go by herself. But if she were with a friend her age, I'd probably entertain the idea. But it's no biggie to wait a bit longer. We hardly ever split up anyway. It felt SO odd to let her wander over to EE by herself as it was! The only time I can see this being an issue for us is if we pull together some sort of special rate to stay at the Grand Californian this December. It is adjacent to DCA. I could totally see sending Katie back in to pick up something in the room. But apparently under this new rule she couldn't. I'm not sure why I see getting on a bus or monorail as much different, but I do.

...

I wonder if they really had 8 year olds entering the parks on their own? :scared1:

I think I would have liked to see the age limit at 12. I would not have sent her on her own at 12, but can see how some might, especially with another 12 or 13 year old.

Yeah, I think there was more of an issue maybe at Disneyland with the young kids? I remember, I was probably way too young, but my mom let me walk around Six Flags by myself at around 12… She didn't just drop me off, but I know a lot of parents feel that dropping off at SF with lunch money and a season pass was cheaper than childcare for the summer…. But there is no way I'd just drop my kids off at 7! And at 12, it would be more like if we took a friend and let them go for a few hours or something…

Yes, Janet, I took TONS of photos with my camera. I took my SLR which has a good strap and had no problem doing the Trek with it. I can't remember which lens I took with me on the actual trek. The hippos and crocs were right under us as we went over the suspended bridges so I didn't need a really long lens, but I think I used a medium range zoom so I would be able to also use it on the part of the Trek that was in the truck.

I don't think I don't know if I would have done the Trek if I couldn't have taken my camera. I still haven't scrapped any of it either. And, NOW, Scrap Your Trip has a Jungle Trek paper and dye cut!!!

I did the first tour of the morning so animals were pretty active and also did one later in the morning another day (it was comped for a certain issue).

I'm also guessing it really is more of a problem at DLR. But I'm sure they had their issues at WDW too.

Ahh.... someone who thinks like I do! I would mark it off my list right now if I couldn't take my camera. Now that you confirmed I can, I'll keep scheming on how I can do this for myself one day. It would be really fun to do with Katie.

I need to get back on to SYT and see what new stuff they have. I have placed 2 orders now since they started bringing out their new lines for the various lands, but haven't seen the Jungle Trek one. I need to definitely check that out.

We're snowed in here again today for the umpteenth time this year. I'm trying to scrap today, but am really having a hard time getting going.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you've never seen Up! And if you're snowed in today, it's the perfect time ;)

The last time I met Dug and Russell I got some priceless pictures as Russell decided I was his new girlfriend and we went to look for Kevin (his pet bird).

Poor Dug didn't know what to do :rotfl2:

Loving all the updates. I also wish that Minnie and Mickey met together in their Christmas clothes. I love meeting them in all their different outfits but I would rather just have them together...

^^^^ Awwww!!! That's adorable!

I actually just tried really hard to get Katie to watch UP with me. It's on On Demand and it would be a great way to spend the afternoon. But nope, she's not having any part of it. I guess I'm on my own. I think I'll give it a try here in a bit!

I always have said I'd rather wait twice as long to see Mickey and Minnie together, but they seem to be going more the othe way with that. Of course, they are together at MVMCP, but I really just don't care for what they wear there. Now that we won't be at WDW in December for the first time in years, you watch......they'll get new party clothes! :rotfl:

I'm REALLY hoping we get to see them in something more festive at DLR!

Your pictures are fantastic! And I LOVE the autograph book idea!! Super cute.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We're going to Florida for a week at the beach this summer. Instead of coming straight home, Katie and I are driving to Orlando for a one night stop in the MK before coming home. I'm already plotting to see if we can fill in a couple more autographs in the book. We got the bulk of them in December but still have a few more we can fill in.

I know you've said it before but darn if I can't remember. Which beach are you headed for this summer? And REALLY? Just one day at MK/WDW?

Sanibel Island. It's on the Gulf coast.

And yes, just one day. Well, sort of. Drew and Timmy are heading home, so it's really just a tack on for a tiny little taste of Disney. Mostly it's because I just don't tolerate heat well. So I don't do theme parks in the summer. Well, not in Florida anyway. So we'll get to the MK late in the afternoon and stay through the EMH. Then we'll stay through the following day just to shop at DTD, swim and eat at 1900 PF for dinner and watch Wishes from the Poly beach. Then home the next day. Just a little dose of Disney to get me through. :goodvibes

You loving this spring snow?

OK... you guys shamed me into it. I watched UP today. And now I'm really sorry I didn't go see it on the big screen. :goodvibes

It was funny though. Katie kept looking for reasons not to watch. She kept suggesting other programs. She kept going off to do other things. So eventually I just loaded it up on my On Demand and started it. Then she walked through the room and saw I was starting it............. and gave me a pathetic look like I had utterly betrayed her! :lmao: I was watching a Disney movie without her! :rotfl: She was hooked. She sat down and watched with me. Turns out she had missed all the adorable subtle things from the beginning of the movie, the setup with Carl and Ellie. I can totally see how she could have missed that in classroom showings. It really doesn't lend itself well to viewing in a noisy classroom.

But I really did enjoy it, and am so glad we did our photos with Russell and Dug at AK. I really wish Carl had been there with them.

So thanks everyone for nudging me into it! :)

I knew you would love Up. I swear I was teary eyed in the first 10 minutes of it. Claire freaked in the chase seen later in the movie. She cried and cried that Dug would get hurt. LOL

I've never been so close to tears in the first 10 minutes of a movie. In all those times watching the movie, Katie had missed the part about them losing the baby. That 10 minute sequence really is what sets him up as such a sympathetic character. I'm glad we watched it. :)

DW cannot watch that part without crying or at least tearing up.

Aw I'm glad you watched and that Katie gave it another chance. It's such a great movie but definitely makes me tear up every time.

The Carl and Ellie montage has to be one of the most beautiful scenes of any movie, animated or not. SO well done and touching. I cried.

Then laughed hysterically at Doug, "I would very much like for you to pet me" and "squirrel" such a weird concept, but it worked on Doug. The other dogs... not so much.

Glad you got to enjoy!
