Magic In Paradise: 10/8-10/15 2011. All cruisers check in here. (#2)

While we are lamenting airline troubles...

I got an email from Delta with a change in our itinerary for our October 7th flights to Florida. Our departing flight from Salt Lake City now leaves an hour earlier - at 6:00 am! Not only does that mean we will need to wake up at 4:00, but it extends our layover in Minneapolis/St. Paul to almost 4 hours. I think to pass the time we may have to take the light rail to the Mall of America.

At least getting up so early may leave me tired enough to fall asleep at midnight in my Orlando hotel. That beats laying there staring at the ceiling waiting for morning to come like a kid on Christmas eve.

Dan, I am so sorry you are going through this. The Weather must be pretty harry at BWI. On your next flight after the cruise I will make sure you get some free cocktails.

Thanks Alan. Could have used one tonight. The SWA crew and support staff were very nice and helpful. You work with good people. :thumbsup2 This was a pure weather event and boy was it one.
Well the end of the story is I never made it to Baltimore. I had DW drive up to Philly through the rain after waiting 3 hours hoping I would make it to BWI. SWA was still waiting to get clearance to fly. The weather finally cleared in Baltimore and the heavens opened up in Philly. My car is still at BWI which I will have to take a train down to tomorrow to get. What a night. :scared1: I was fine with it but felt really bad for the family next to me. They had a connecting flight at BWI to MCO to spend a week at WDW. They still had a good attitude and I hope they make it tonight. :cloud9:

Aw. :sad2: Such a shame.

I hope I don't run into this type of situation. I'm flying in the day of our departure. :rolleyes1 So far I've never had a problem but I'm always worried the next time will be it. Maybe I'll make it with a little faith, trust, and pixie dust! :wizard:

Glad you made it home finally Dan. You waited way longer than I would have.

Could you please post that the T-shirt signups are now CLOSED?

I sent the order off today:thumbsup2

Thanks

As long as we're talking flight issues & SWA I got a story to share. Hubby is flying Baltimore to Orlando the other day & O-town has weather issues that extend past the east coast. He says tower calls and gives new flight path that actually takes him to over Freeport Bahamas. Then they give him coordinates to fly towards Bimini before heading back towards Florida! We're talking Southwest who flies in the US only! Well the passengers may not have loved the delay but did enjoy the scenery and especially when DH was pointing out cruiseships, including the Dream in the Bahamas. I wish he'd had a camera!!

The dinner was great. Everyhing was first class. The service was impeccable. The only downer was there really was not a good place to see Fantasmic. To many trees in the way. I did find it funny that there are people up there using flashes with their cameras, and not one person looked up.

Beautiful Pictures Alan:thumbsup2

Glad you had such a good time. Can't wait to see food like that on our cruise:worship: That's as close to Club33 as I'll ever get.

I am sending some pixiedust: your way. I REALLY hope we don't have to leave without you.:sad2: I would be so scared to even attempt to come in that day.:scared1: I never have that luck.

Where are you flying out of? Philly or ABL(Lancaster I think)? And how early? Phily "usually" has good weather in early Oct. But since their summer has been so off, its hard to say. 1 of my friends posted this morning that Philly has gotten 12 inches of rain in the past month:scared1:

Pixie dust in your general direction:wizard:

Philly got 12 inches of rain last night. :scared1: I was there :scared1: I am on Amtrak right now heading to BWI to get my car. The adventure continues. :happytv:

:confused3 What time is your flight that morning? Here's hoping pixiedust:, pixiedust: and more pixiedust: comes your way and NOTHING goes wrong. If it does, we'll all have to 'hold' the anchor until you get there...:rotfl:

With all this airline horror stories you all keep talking about, I'm glad were driving down. We are leaving Thursday for our 12 hour drive, gonna drive halfway stay in SC somewhere, then get to cape Canaveral sometime Friday. Honestly its like $1500 cheaper driving down rather then flying anyway! I hope everyone makes it safe and in time for our cruise!pirate:
