Magic in NYC~June 2, 2012

I hope that they give us some information regarding the transportation and timing before the cruise. I hate not being able to make plans.

We are going to start out at MK and stay there until early afternoon. We then might split up (depending if Shawn reaches 48 inches). If he is not, he and I will head to AK to do EE since he has not gotten to do that before and Steve and Matt will go to HS to do RNR. If Shawn is tall enough we might all head to HS. We then plan to head to Epcot for dinner and the evening.

If we pick up the bus back to port at the TTC then I think we will head over to the Polynesian and watch Wishes from the beach and then head to the bus.

It's going to be a long and tiring day - but the next day is a at-sea day so we can sleep in.

Wow Kristi! You have a busy day planned.

I'm not sure what we are doing. In Nassau we will either stay on the ship or do an excursion. No way are we walking off and around on our own. Did that once and it's a nighmare there. The cab drivers hound you everywhere you go. You can't take two steps without them trying to get you into their taxis. I'm not even close to kidding. They are lined up along the street and as you walk, they are trying to give you a ride somewhere. Honestly, If I just told the person next to you, that I wasn't interested, what makes you think that after two steps I now want a ride???? :rotfl:

I'm thinking Magic Kingdom or Epcot for us. Or both depending on how tired we get!

Sounds like FUN to me!!! :goodvibes I haven't really figured out what we are going to do, but chances are MK and Epcot - maybe DHS instead. Or, follow Kristi and her family...ending in Epcot for dinner and the Poly for Wishes. Sounds pretty darn perfect to me!

Sounds a bit like NYC in the winter when you having a child with you. Except the cabs honk at you. Every.single.one. I'm a bit used the haggling, so I kinda want to see how extreme it is. Since we have never been to Nassau I definitely want to get off the ship and at least check it all out, maybe do the beach or an excursion. I still need to research some more. :surfweb:

38 more weeks!!

No dancing numbers today. I am functioning on just 3 hours of sleep. My DS was in an ATV accident yesterday. Let's just say he had a run in with a telephone pole guide wire. Guide Wire = 1, Gary = partly ripped off and mangled ear.

First hospital in CT called an ambulance and transferred him to Westchester Medical Center in NY. Plastic surgeon did an awesome job repairing his ear. Got home this morning around 6 am and had 3 hours sleep. Heading back to the hospital now. I think they are sending him home tonight.

Never a dull moment with kids....even when they are grown!! (He's 23!)

Oh no Maria - what a night. I am glad that he is ok.

Oh my gosh Maria! So sorry to hear about your son. I hope all is better now. Get some rest and I'll keep you all in my prayers!

:littleangel:

Thanks guys!

Brought him home last night. He's doing well. I just keep thinking that it could have been so much worse. Just grateful it was only his ear, that it could be repaired and that he didn't lose his hearing. AND most importantly, his head is still attached to his body!

Oh my goodness! How scary! I'm SO GLAD to hear it was just his ear!!!! Many hugs to you! I hope the recovery and healing goes well.

Yikes! I did the exact same thing years ago. Those wires are HARD to spot.

I was extremely lucky in that I hit the wire a bit lower. The ATV stopped cold and I shot forward like a missile. Huge bruises on my legs from the handlebars and it knocked me unconscious for a few minutes but I avoided the hospital.

Glad things have turned out well for you too!

Wow! You were VERY lucky! How did you manage to avoid the hospital? Especially being knocked unconscious? Head injuries scare the bejeebies out of me!

How did you manage to avoid the hospital?

It was almost 25 years ago. Head injuries weren't an automatic hospital visit then... or if they were nobody who was with me knew that.

I basically rested for a bit, took inventory that I still had all my parts and continued to ride home. My head was buzzing a little and the rest of the day was a bit dreamy but I ended up ok... or ok-ish.. my wife might say that this explains a lot. :)

It does explain a lot! :rotfl:

Well to be honest, I was sort of hoping that Gary might have gotten some sense knocked into his head. Time will tell.

Hi Everyone!

Another week has flown by. We are now
arg-3-50-trans.gif
arg-7-50-trans.gif

weeks away from our Magical Disney sailing out of New York City!

We went to Target today (it's a haul without a car in NYC, so it's an all day adventure). I snagged some shorts, a swim top, a beach cover-up, and a dress for the cruise on clearance! :thumbsup2 I checked our Halloween stuff for pirate gear, but nothing jumped out at me. I'm hoping they have some pirate-themed adult shirts.

I have not researched this yet, but does anyone, right off the top of their head, know the cost to rent a tux on the ship?
