Magic in a Winter Wonder World with 1,648 pictures

We left PHD and walked.
And then stopped to stare at.
DSC01511.jpg

We then continued walking to find dinner.
DSC01512.jpg

We were walking towards Pizza Planet and walked past Sci-Fi. We really wanted to eat here this trip but I wasn't able to get an ADR. As we walked by I figured why not give it a shot. So, I told the gang to come in with me. (I *think* it might of started to rain a little.) I walked up to the podium.
CM- How many in your party?
Me- 4
CM- Do you have an ADR?
Me- No.
CM- Flying saucer (sounds cool, but it's just a normal table) or car?
Me- Car.
CM- O.K. I can seat you in 10-15 minutes.
Am I hearing this right?
Me- Really?
CM-Yes! What's your name.
Yay, we were eating at Sci-Fi! I ate here once with Emily for lunch a few years ago. We were impressed with the place but not with the food. Our burgers came before our drinks did! We had a Sci-Fi night a few months before the trip so everyone wanted to try the actual place. We ended up waiting about 20-25 minutes before we were called. We were seated in the last row of cars on the far right in a pink car. The girls thought this place was very cool.

DSC01515.jpg

The girls sat in one row and we sat behind them.
For dinner I ordered the The Reuben - Corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing on marble rye bread, served with a pickle spear and a choice of cucumber-melon salad of french fries. It was very tasty.
Mitch ordered the
Smoked St. Louis-style Ribs - Basted with barbecue sauce served with cole slaw and a choice of cucumber-melon salad or french fries $21.99
and the kids both wanted to order of the kids' menu.
They both ordered a kids' pick. You choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert. They chose the tomato soup, burger, and ice cream sundae. Exactly the same! We split everything and it wall all very tasty. I liked my meal a lot. I tried a rib and it was to-die-for! Emily gave me her tomato soap and it was delish! Amy thought hers' was too. We both licked the bowls clean. I'm really sorry, no food pics.
DSC01517.jpg

I tried to take pictures of the restaurant without the blinding flash. I don't think these came out.
DSC01518.jpg

DSC01519.jpg

The waitress brought out the ice cream sundaes before we were done eating. I asked for the check so we could leave when we were ready and she said she would bring it. We're waiting and waiting and no check!
There was something wrong with the ice cream sundae. The frozen yogurt was hard. There was about a pound of celebration sprinkles in it. The sprinkles were like little hockey pucks and they didn't taste right. Emily thought so too. Amy liked it though. So, we're still waiting for the check finally a get another waiter to come and I ask for the waitress. About 10 minutes later she comes. We are all annoyed (we've been ready to go for about 20 minutes!) and we just pay in cash so we can get out of there.
DSC01520.jpg

It was 6:45 and we had lights to see, TSM to ride, and we still wanted to go to Epcot for fireworks.
This was the first thing to see.

Continued in next post!

With the May trip sneaking up on me (54 days) and a while to go on this report I decided to just PTR here. I'm one of those people that plan the attraction order and everything. So I'm going to post for each park where we plan to eat, goals, and the raid plan. Let's start out with the Magic Kingdom just because I'm thinking about how nice it would be to be watching Wishes right now and having some Casey's.
So, here are my top 5 goals. Of course I want to do all the normal attractions but this is just extra things that are out of the norm.
1. Have the girls design ears. Can you believe my poor kids have never owned a pair of Mickey ears? We need to fix this! They are very excited to do this! Based on their personalities, I think Amy will go all out with two different ears and cover every square inch of the beanie with a patch. Emily will keep it simple and she'll do two of the same ears and one patch. I'm predicting. It will be interesting to see how they actually turn out.
2. Catch the castle show. I don't think I have ever seen a full show.
3. See The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management. I haven't seen the new one and I don't think the girls ever saw it.
4. Catch the opening show. I have never seen this and it looks so magical! I would really, really like to be family of the day and help our friends open the park.
5. On Main Street there is an area that has all these photo ops. I really want to do this. I saw it on MeMom's report but I don't remember exactly where it was. Anybody know what I'm talking about and where exactly it is? MeMom, it's where Brooklynn met Snow White.
Now on to how we'll raid this park.
We'll be there in time for opening see the opening show and move on to Fantasyland. We'll do Peter Pan and Pooh about two to three times each with no wait. (worked last May) and then we'll go to Tomorrowland. There, we'll do the Speedway. An Amy favorite. She should definitely be able to drive the car. Also some how Emily has missed this on all our trips in the last year and a half. I think it'll be like 9:30-40 by this point. We'll go ride Buzz (last May it was still walk-on at this time and we're going at a less crowded week.) Then Amy and Mitch will either FP or do stand-by for Space Mountain. I don't know what Emily will want to do but we'll do whatever is on her mind when the others are riding SM. Then we'll go on out to ride HM, and then Splash and Big Thunder. We'll FP one of we need to and just wait out the other. Next, we'll do Country Bears and then go and ride the carpets, Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates, and the Jungle Cruise. That is all I have planned out so far.
Now eating. This will be an all counter service day. On our last night in November we ate at Pinocchio Village Haus and loved it. They have this new meatball sub there. OMG, it is to die for!! It is the best counter service in all of Disney. Add this to your list!
Emily got sick from Cosmic Rays' ribs so I won't to avoid eating there this trip. I want to eat at Columbia Harbor House. That is a new one for us. I've heard good things so maybe we'll try that. There is also Pecos. Hmm, which one? I think we'll have a snack at Casey's while we wait for Spectro.
So, what do ya'll think?

Did you race out tonight to get New Moon (or should I say are you going to be racing out soon to get it?)? I have to say this time change has thrown us completely off too--not sure why this one is so much different than last Spring or fall back last fall. :confused2:

My DD loves :loves: Darby! I think a lot of it has to do with the red hair :lmao: but she has not seen many of the older shows to get to know Christopher Robin. PHD is definitely on the top of our list for DHS. That, B&tB and VOTLM are what I would guess will end up being DD's favorites. Not sure which will top the list. Cool shot of the hat--really do not see many shots like that!!

Yay for a walk up at Sci-Fi diner! Too bad the waitress left you waiting for so long--at least the food was good!

Raid plan--:rotfl: love that phrase!! Wow, no ears yet? We actually do not own ears either. The three of us will be getting ears and I want one picture of all of us wearing them! :cloud9 I would love to make RD too but I don't think it is going to happen unless we dash off to MK on Saturday before we begin the drive home (which we will if I can convince DH and my Dad it would be fun for us to do it!). Marking Pinocchio Village Haus down as a good one to look at. I think it is a great day at MK overall!

How annoying to have to wait around for a check that you expressly asked for a lONG time before!!

Barbara,

I think the place you are talking about is called Expo Hall. There are some fun things inside (and out) to take pix of.

Hi
Im sory ive been awol for a while but im all caught up eventually and I have to say I love the sound of your ptr too.
Think we are going to give sci fi a miss i seem to have read some really bad reviews recently :-(

Sorry you didn't have the best experience at Sci-Fi. I remember going there for my 21st birthday. ((many, many, many years ago)) And I loved it. But that's when it was just DH and I.

It was between Sci-Fi and 50's prime time this trip, and I'm glad we chose 50's. :thumbsup2

4. Catch the opening show. I have never seen this and it looks so magical!

So, what do ya'll think?

The opening show is very exciting! Lots of characters and lots of happiness in the crowd.

Go in like you are going to Tony's. Go into the back of the gift shop and then to the right. That's the theater/photo op room.

One of Jill's favorite parts of a Disney trip is eating Casey's on the curb while waiting for Spectro.

I'm sorry Sci Fi did not end well, but you were able to get several great pictures of the girls.

Your plans for the MK sound great. My goal for my June trip is to revisit some of the older rides that we have slipped the last several trips. The rides that were there when MK first opened.

PHD looks fun. Can't wait to hear more about your May trip! :goodvibes
Bella will like PHD, I am sure! The plans for May are pretty much in place i just need to find the time to type them.

Nope. I was going to order it from Walmart for Easter but the other day after softball practice Mitch took the girls to Target to get an icee. What do they come home with? New Moon! Are you a Twi-hard. I haven't read the books I just like movies. I'm reading the Nicholas Sparks books now. Just finished Dear John yesterday!
She'll like all 3. What about TSM! Every kid LOVES that!
The food was very good however, next time I want to try 50s.
I'm glad my kids aren't the only ones that are earless. Maybe you and dd could open at MK and leave the rest of the crew behind. I usually just take the girls to MK myself the day we leave because Mitch has to work after taking 5 days off.
How annoying to have to wait around for a check that you expressly asked for a lONG time before!!

Barbara,

I think the place you are talking about is called Expo Hall. There are some fun things inside (and out) to take pix of.
I was getting pretty ticked! We had a lot to fit into a few short hours!
Yes, that is it! Thank you!! It was way past my bedtime when I was typing this the other night and I could just not think of the name of it.
Hi

Welcome back! How is Cameron doing?
Go to 50s instead, unless your kids will really think eating in a car is out of this world.
Sorry you didn't have the best experience at Sci-Fi. I remember going there for my 21st birthday. ((many, many, many years ago)) And I loved it. But that's when it was just DH and I.

:welcome: Thanks for joining in!
Your review of 50s sounded good. I'd like to eat there but we'll probably skip DHS this trip.:guilty:

I've seen pictures of it seems like the perfect way to begin your day! Wouldn't you like to start every day with a Disney opening show?
Got it.
I could go for both of those things right about now.
I'm sorry Sci Fi did not end well, but you were able to get several great pictures of the girls.

Your plans for the MK sound great. My goal for my June trip is to revisit some of the older rides that we have slipped the last several trips. The rides that were there when MK first opened.
Thank you! I love the last shot of them in the car.
I always do the classics every trip. To me, it isn't Disney like a spin on IASW or visiting my ghost friends. I really want to do Carousel of Progress this trip. I have never seen it!!!:scared1:

Some more pictures from the breath taking lights.

DSC01526.jpg

I'm not sure what time it was, but the lights had been on for a while so the crowds had really died down. We usually wait a while in the night before we go see them which is what I recommend. However, I would like to see them turn one day.

So were the CMs. Aren't there outfits cute?

I could not get this to come out! (I kind of didn't read the instruction book for the new camera before the trip. I'm not an instruction person.)

You can see in the back-round of the pictures that everyone was in aw. It truly is magical! The lights are enough to make even Grumpy and the Grinch (Well the Grinch acts the way he does because he is not owned by Disney.)smile.

Nope we are not Twi-hard. I have read the first book but other than that--no other books or movies. I really should go back and read them but with my grad school and other books, I have not had time to read more of what I refer to as "required" reading. Right now I have been reading lots of stuff for grad school and magazines as I have no energy to read for pleasure at the moment other than magazines and journals. I keep a list a mile long of what I want to read when I get time.

I think we will get DD her ears that first Saturday. I may dash off with her the last Saturday morning if no one else wants to go. Heck, we have tickets--we might as well! Especially if she has not met the Fairies or rode Dumbo by then. Thanks for the idea! :goodvibes

Oh--DD saw a picture of the seats on TSM--she informed me that she wanted to go on that ride. I would get the green shooter and she would take the yellow one. I think we will be shooting to ride it. :rolleyes1 That pretty much solidified that we will get up to go to DHS to get stand by and/or FP, do PHD, B&tB, VOTLM if possible before we take a break before coming back for F! dinner and show. Whichever we do not make the morning, will make the afternoon. :thumbsup2

Glad you got to get in the lights even though your check was so long in coming!! I can imagine that even the grumpiest person would LOVE to see this all in its sparkly glory!!

"The Town Square Exposition Hall will be closing on April 2 2010 to allow for the construction of the new meet and greet experiences that are being displaced from Mickey's Toontown Faire due to the Fantasyland expansion. The existing Storytime Experience will move to Epcot, while the Walt Disney Story Theater will close. The shop at the front of the Expo hall will remain open during the work."

Not cool, Disney. So, something comes off the goal list. What is going in its place? Carousal of Progress! This is something I've never done and I'm pretty excited to try it.

Today was the 50 day dance until Disney. Usually we have a Disney night but that did not happen. Mitch is away on a business trip. (last one before the Disney trip:cool1:.)
So today, I went to work to set up my new art room. It is really coming together. I hung up our pictures from the magic of disney animation. It is art-sy and it will make me think of why I am working... to pay for all the Disney trips I love to take. Then I came home to wait for Pride. The AC decided it wanted to have a mind of its own. Doesn't it know I'm trying to save to go see the mouse?! Then I picked the kids up from school because they had a check-up at the dentist. No cavities! :thumbsup2
Then we went to the car dealership. I'm getting a new car this week. I was going to get it in December but I'm glad I waited because I'm saving 2,000$!!! Oh and the salesman I was working with is Emily's teacher's husband it turns out. Small world, hugh?
Next thing I knew it was 7:30. We went across the street to the mall to have some Subway for dinner and then we snuck in the Disney store. I had a whole 60 seconds at best because the mall was closing.:headache:
For our 40 day night we'll do Goofy's candy company, and for the 30 day night we'll do the big reveal of the trip to the girls.:dance3:
I am exhausted so Im hanging up my ears for the night. I need to catch up on everyones' reports this weekend! Sorry to abandon you all!

Hi! Just wanted to say that we LOVE Columbia Harbour House!! It was SO good and the atmosphere was really relaxing and coastal. It is directly in front of Haunted Mansion, so we rode it first and then got in line at Columbia right after the lunch rush.

I got the fried shrimp basket and was really surprised at how much I liked it! We live in Coastal Louisiana, so I get fresh seafood all of the time. Columbia was just as good! My kids got the nuggets (they are still little) and my husband got the tuna. We were all very happy with it. I also want to try out Pecos. We got a little snack from there and it looked so cozy and themed :lovestruc I think we will try it out on our next visit. Hope this helped!

New car??!! That's some news!

OY! Closing Expo Hall? WEll, to be honest, you will really love CoP! It is much much better than the what is at Expo; I can't believe you've never seen it! Definitely a must!

Well, I guess our secret place was good while it lasted. We'll take a picture of that area when we go for Mother's Day. All of these changes will be interesting to watch as they unfold before watching DIS eyes these next few years.

Great updates! stinks that you guys had to wait around on the waitress...
and like your PTR plans !!! It is going to be here before you know it...
:yay: for getting a new vehicle and sounds like your art class is coming together...

I sometimes fall asleep with a book in my hands. I just can not fall asleep with out reading. No matter how late it is I always read. I guess I'm just weird like that.
Mitch and I probably aren't getting ears. It would be nice to get a family shot in front of the castle with all of us wearing them but I just can't justify spending 30$ on ears for 1 picture. I would wear them but I've never seen an adult wear them so don't need to get the look from people.
If you have the tickets for an extra day, then I would totally go for it. I love having one-on-one time with just one of the girls at Disney. A few years ago on a long trip we split Mitch took one and I took one and then we switched half way through the day. Emily and I went to DHS and had lunch at Sci-fi and me and Amy went to the pool, a princess lunch, and mini golf. Then at night Mitch and I had date night.:lovestruc It was a fun day and the kids got to do what ever they wanted since we only had one person's desired to cater to.
Let's see there is no 9:00 show for any of those things. So, I would go to DHS for opening do TSM stand-by and then get FPs for TSM. It won't matter what time they're for since you'll be back at night. Then you can catch the first show of VOTLM. You won't need FPs for the first show at all! Then go do PHD. If you have to wait a while for the next show then DD could meet the PHD characters. After do BATB. This should work and get you of the park by 12:30. That is too cute! You might be in trouble though. Half the cars have red and blue shooters. Ugh-oh!:scared1:
Glad you got to get in the lights even though your check was so long in coming!! I can imagine that even the grumpiest person would LOVE to see this all in its sparkly glory!!
The lights are amazing. They can easily turn someone's frown upside down.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Glad to hear they have nuggets. My main concern was what would the kids eat. Amy is a pretty adventurous eater, Emily is NOT. We've eaten at Pecos before. The food is very good, I recommend it. Nobody is going to want to hike to the other side of the park just to eat so we'll eat at whichever one of the two we are the closest to.
New car??!! That's some news!

OY! Closing Expo Hall? WEll, to be honest, you will really love CoP! It is much much better than the what is at Expo; I can't believe you've never seen it! Definitely a must!
Thank you! I've had the old one for 9 years so on Sunday when the 'check engine' came up I came home got Mitch's car and went straight to the dealership to go car shopping.
Do I loose my DIS Veteran certificate for never doing COP?!?!:rolleyes1 I saw it on Youtube and started singing "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow." Not well though, because, um..... I can't sing. I'm excited to see it in person.
Well, I guess our secret place was good while it lasted. We'll take a picture of that area when we go for Mother's Day. All of these changes will be interesting to watch as they unfold before watching DIS eyes these next few years.
At least a lot of people won't know about Mickey and Minnie being there since it is hidden. I like the idea of an air-conditioned and not crowded mouse meeting place.
I'll miss Toontown and seeing the castle while riding Dumbo but good thing are going into place. Brooklynn will love the Arielle ride! (It is the little mermaid ride, right? Or does my brain not function past hours?)
Great updates! stinks that you guys had to wait around on the waitress...
and like your PTR plans !!! It is going to be here before you know it...
:yay: for getting a new vehicle and sounds like your art class is coming together...
:wave2:

Thanks!!
Both of our trips will be here very soon.:woohoo::yay::dance3:
I start April 12th and it is getting there. It still has a LOT to go though.:rolleyes1 I was looking at supplies yesterday and I'm stuck with what is left for this year since the old art teacher spent all the art supply money for the year so I don't have a lot of what I need for my art projects. I need to come up with some new things.
Have a good night!

Mitch got home from a business trip yesterday and was wiped out today. He went to NYC, Philly, and DC in 4 nights. The girls are on Spring Break now until after Easter. I've been busy typing my new lesson plans. We changed our beach trip from Monday to Thursday. The weather was predicted to be terrible and after Wednesday Mitch won't even need his laptop, just the crackberry.
These pictures are from about a month ago when my cousin, Mitchell and his family was in town. We went to my Mom's house to go see them. After lunch the kids went outside to walk around and burn some energy (we could see them from the kitchen.)
Emily is very into photography lately. She told me she wants to be a professional photographer when she retires. My aunt is one and she taught her (and me, expect better pictures in May) a few things. So, when they went outside I let Emily borrow my camera to take pictures.
Amy and Mitchell's kids, Sam and Zoe.

Inside, the adults had a nice time catching up. Mitchell lives all the way in California so we don't get to see them very often. Mitchell's sister and family came down the next day and they all went to Disney. (We were invited that was why we were going to go in February.)
Back inside the kids had dessert.
DSC02373.jpg

And before leaving Mitch (this one is the hubby) took a picture of me and the girls with my mom.
DSC02384.jpg

These, I took a picture of them from my phone but the quality isn't too, too bad.
Last weekend we went to go see Alice in Wonderland and 3-D!
See anyone familiar?
DSC02394.jpg

The girls posed with the three fingers in front of the three for TS3! We CAN'T wait to see this movie. It was cool to see the preview in Disney digital 3-D.
DSC02397.jpg

These are from the Disney store on Tuesday. I was only in for a minute or two so I didn't have time to take a lot. Hope you can see these good.
Some friends waiting to be adopted to a good Disney home.

I didn't come home with anything but I found beach towels that I'm going to get for the trip and the girls' reveal when they go on sale. They also had Disney beach balls for a dollar. They'll go well with the reveal too. We can pack them up for the trip and blow them up when we get there for the pool and maybe some fun in the room and then deflate them for the ride home and use them in the pool this summer.
I got 5 of these at the Disney store a month ago. They were and still are only a dollar. They make nice grocery bags, bags to bring supplies to work (I did this.), laundry bags, pool bags, etc.

Instead of having my purse and a Disney tote bag I decided on just a backpack. My veras are too small for the umbrellas and ponchos. Also I want just one bag, no purse. So I need something big to put ponchos (hopefully we won't need them), autograph books, and all that fun stuff. I need something that has a safe pocket for my wallet and park tickets so backpack I decided it is.
The new car:

You can't really see it to good with because it is dark. I got a 2010 Altima in ocean grey. My old car's life was over and there was a huge sale going on on the Altimas.
Continued in next post.

The girls took pictures of themselves together the other night before bed.
