Hi y'all! I've booked our first cruise on the Magic (05B Deluxe Ocean View w/Verandah). Our stateroom is 7096, aft. Debating on switching my room closer to the front of the ship?? Please give me your opinion, front or aft?? Also, which side of the ship is the dock side for the Magic?? PLEASE HELP!!!

Location all depends on your preference, you'll experience more movement fore than you will midships or aft, but the adult areas, shopping and the Walt Disney Theater are all fore while the buffet, kids pools and Buena Vista theaters are mid to aft.

Usually, the ship docks on the port side (that's left facing the front) but for Castaway Cay, the starboard side has a better view of the island. Unless you're doing a cruise with picturesque ports, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you, I keep second guessing myself! This will be our second Disney Cruise and I'm still trying to get familiar with the ships and DCL lingo, I'm more of a DW expert ;) So the port side is on the left side if you are facing the ship?? Also, what is the starboard side? Thanks for answering my questions!!

Hi, My hubby is prone to sea sickness so I always book us mid or aft. The last cruise we took, Nov/14, we were one of the last cabins on the aft end and on a higher deck. He said it was his best cruise to date. No sea sickness at all. Have fun.

Thanks, this helps lots! I'm also prone to sea sickness, we were on the Dream in March and had a room mid/aft but only felt a little sick the first night. I wasn't sure how the forward rooms were since it was our first cruise. Thanks for your help!

As you stand onboard the ship, facing forward, port is on your left hand side, starboard is on your right.

Remember port & left = both 4 letters ending with "t"

Ok, that makes sense! I'm still trying to understand all things DCL! Do you have a preference on sides, port or starboard??

Actually we prefer mid-ship, our preferred deck is deck 2. If I have to select a room that's not mid-ship, I'd go more aft than forward.

Personally, I would not book b a room on the forward part of the ship. There are state-of-the-art stabilizers aboard, however the front of the ship seems to get the most action.

We have sailed on the Wonder twice both starboard/aft and the Dream 4 times with a mix of locations, all upper decks. We prefer starboard/aft.

Have our first trip on the Magic coming up in October and we are mid ship deck 2. I believe I will like the upper deck but the price was too good for this category.

Good luck!

I was tempted to try something different and change my stateroom to a forward one. I will definitely keep my stateroom after hearing more people than not say they prefer mid or aft! Thanks for your help! :)

What is the view in Nassau on the starboard side? I currently have a portside room and am debating changing to starboard?? I would love to hear your thoughts of the Magic after you sail and what you thought of deck 2! Have a magical trip :)

The aft for us has more things we want to be a part of. The buffet on the top deck, Palo, Animators. It also is close to the movie theater and the kids club. If you plan on spending more time going back and forth to the shows and the adult areas of the ship, then you may want to consider the front.

7096 is more mid-ship than aft. If you go much further forward than that, you'll find that you have a hike either way to get to an elevator bank or stairway. What you have is a great location.

The ship can dock with either side facing the pier, depending on what work needs to be done on the hull, or which lifeboats need to be tested. On the Magic last week, we docked starboard side in in Nassau, and port side in in Castaway Cay - both so the captain could run training exercises on both banks of lifeboats.

I feel like there are more things we will be doing towards the aft of the ship so I will keep our current location. Thanks for your input, it has helped tons! :) Now to decide if I want to be on the port or starboard side.....so many decisions!!!

:tinker:I appreciate everyone's help and the expertise of all the DCL veterans on here that help make our trips so magical!! I love how we all share the same love of all things Disney and want to help others! Thanks to ALL!!!

When at port in Nassau you have a view of Atlantis at least for a while. Once other ships arrive in port they sometimes block your view and you get to see their ship.

We loved our aft location on the Wonder for our 2 Alaska cruises (7126). We found the aft elevators were must less busy than those at midship or front, and it was a quick trip up the the drink station - very convenient. We also felt it was quieter in the hallways at the back of the ship with less back and forth traffic. No problems with vibrations either.
