Please tell me all about the opportunities that we missed on our 2010 cruise! Please don't let me make the same mistakes again.
There's a special Pirates buffet??? WHERE? I didn't see that, we were standing on deck 10!
Cove Café has free sweet snacks??? Thought they were extra!
Missed that whole departure party altogether, not gonna miss this one!
I did know about the Mickey Bars so I wasn't totally in the dark!
On day 5 of my 7-day cruise I found out there's a shop with goofy's name on it that served free sandwiches and fruit. Why didn't I know that.
Please tell me the little extras so I don't miss them this time. I also have to find the other areas that go outside besides decks 9 & 10! I've seen pictures but don't know how to get there. I'm going to take the tour this time(now that I know they have them). Can you point out a few things for us?

Any New Years Eve tips for us?

The pirates buffet will be in Cabanas. They have all sorts of goodies, turkey legs, tacos, desserts.

All the snacks in the Cove Cafe are free. You do not have to purchase a drink to get them. There is a glass case and you can go in and help yourself. Different options during the day so check throughout the day. The evening they have cheese/crackers/olives...yum!!

Here are all the food options on the Magic. I think you may talking about Goofy's Galley but I thought that changed to a new name since the Magic refurb but I could be wrong. All of the good options on deck 9 are free and all serve different things. Some serve pizza, some sandwiches, some fruit, some salad, burgers, fries, etc. Just check them all out.

Also, they serve appetizer type foods outside the adult clubs on Deck 3 around 11:00 pm.

As far as finding other places...just start walking!!! Explore the whole ship. The tour is a good way to get a feel where everything is.

My favorite late night snacks on the Wonder are in Diversions (I think that is O'Gills Pub on the Magic now). It was just little finger foods but it makes a nice snack with drinks later in the evening.

When we were on the Magic last month they served snacks (nachos, pigs in a blanket, etc) at O'gills around 7:30 when they had Villians and 80's night trivia.

From posts here over the past week or so, the evening snacks have not been available outside the night clubs due to the precautions being taken onboard. There is no way of knowing when these may return.

Got it! Going to make a point to get some finger foods at O'Gills which is a bar I never stopped in before so double bonus! Thanks jetskigrl!

I'm not going to miss out this time! 80s trivia I'll be there! Hit me with your best shot, fire away! (80's Pat Benatar reference) Pirate buffet I missed that last time? I never saw anything from deck 10.

I think you were on my FE list on the Magic 2010 turkey day cruise! I never thought I'd ever be on another cruise, I'm so happy. But now it's almost a new ship compared to the original Magic. but this time I'm definitely taking the tour! I got on the ship too late last time. Just didn't know any better.

So is Cabanas now what was formerly known as Parrot Cay or Topsider? Is that on the 9th Deck where the party is held? Is the buffet before, during and after?

Yes, Cheese! It'll be nice to get my dad some late-night stacks and he's diabetic so a little bit of extra helps carry him through the night.

Cabanas was formerly Topsiders. Carioca's was formerly Parrot Cay.

The Pirate night buffet used to be on deck (deck 9), port side on the Magic & Wonder. But has now been changed to the buffet. On the Wonder they only did it on the port side of the buffet, don't know if it's the same on the Magic. And it's after the fireworks. For a short time.

No turkey day cruise for us. Fall cruising yes, but never been over Thanksgiving! Last year at this exact time we were on the first sailing of the refurbished Magic for Halloween!! Cruise left on 10/27/13.

Another change you may notice is that they took away one of the staircases in the atrium on Deck 3.

The pirate buffet was held in Cabanas on Deck 9 on only one side of the dining room. It started a little before the party ended but doesn't stay open too long. Maybe an hour tops then they shut it down.

O'Gills is an awesome pub/club. Very relaxed and they have fun trivia games.

I did see some pictures where the one staircase is missing. It looked beautiful balanced with two staircases but I can deal with that. On the other hand what I seen in photos that they did to the store area, that beautiful hallway. Somebody had his Mickey ears on a bit too tight that morning when they approved that ordinary commercial looking design.

If your dad needs a snack in the evening, room service is 24 hours and free. They will always bring your dad a nibble or two!

Thanks HillPete, he's 72, so I have to ask... what is "free" in the room service category? Any fruit juices? Or do they even have anything like a "diabetic plate?" For someone who's going to take a dive?

Here's a room service menu from our recent cruise (sorry it's a little blurry). The only things you pay for here are alcoholic drinks, sodas, snacks (nuts, chips, etc). It notes which things have a charge on the menu.

What is the stand on milk? When do you pay when is it free?

And there is whole milk available near the soda station (beside the coffee). The parents to babies/toddlers all get to know each other when we trudge up there at 6:00 in the morning! LOL

You could also consider buying a six pack of oj and bringing it on board for your room. My dad is a type 1 diabetic and he goes nowhere without OJ for the low blood sugar times.

Two words: Mini. Eclairs.

I don't want to even think about how many of those I had. I started popping into the Cove Cafe in the afternoons to capitalize on them. Probably responsible for at least a pound or two of weight I gained on the last cruise.

While you don't need to purchase a drink in the Cove Cafe to have some, I highly recommend the mint mocha latte (OK that might have also been responsible for a pound or two) plus it gives you the excuse of sitting in the Cove Cafe for a while so that you can keep making trips to get more mini-eclairs.
