I'm planning a trip to WDW and plan on staying at CB. I also plan to rent a car, but was wondering if anyone knows if Magic Express will just take luggage or do I have to get on the bus as well?? I'm traveling with two small children 2 and 3 and will have car seats and if they'll take my luggage that would be easier. :earboy2:

The sad thing is right now you could probably call CRO or MS 5 different times and get 5 different answers. I would also say I admire your stamina! I hope you have a fabulous time.

Also welcome to the DIS. You probably have a better chance of getting the right answer here than calling WDW :teeth:

Sorry, but no. ME will not take your luggage to the resort for you. You must check in and board a bus for them to take your luggage.

I just received an e-mail

A Disney's Magical Express airport transportation booklet containing general information and 2 adhesive DME luggage tag strips per person (ages 3 and above), will be mailed approximately 21 days prior to your arrival. Attach these strips to your luggage prior to leaving home and it will be picked up and delivered to your resort room.

If you do not wish to take advantage of the resort transportation that comes with this service, you are welcome to make your own arrangements.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

So I guess they will just take your luggage, of course that's if all other kinks are worked out

I think that you are misreading this. It does not say that they will take your luggage if you don't use their transportation, just that you are free to make other arrangements period. The booklet that comes with the ME tags give the instructions that you must check in when you arrive at MCO and I quote: "At the Disney Welcome Center, please present this booklet and your airling bagge claim tickets to the Disney representative to confirm your transportation arangements to the Walt Disney World."

I disagree. Read this statement:

If you do not wish to take advantage of the resort transportation that comes with this service, you are welcome to make your own arrangements.

Sounds to me like the it is absolutely possible to use the luggage transport without taking the bus to the resort, i.e., "this service" being the luggage transport.

The booklet that comes with the ME tags give the instructions that you must check in when you arrive at MCO and I quote: "At the Disney Welcome Center, please present this booklet and your airling bagge claim tickets to the Disney representative to confirm your transportation arangements to the Walt Disney World."

Sounds to me like the checking in at the Welcome Center pertains to the person's transportation, not the transportation of the luggage.

That's the way I read it.

I'm e-mailing her now to confirm, because I do see how it could be taken both ways

Please update us, I would like to use the luggage delivery service only and not the bus service. Thanks for posting.

Three things happen when you check in at the Welcome Center:

1. The resort your are staying at is advised you are on the ground so your place in the room queue is established (priority for checking in early and getting a room key).
2. You luggage information (number of bags) is documented for the resort.
3. Your outbound reservations are confirmed for your return trasportation.

If your DME luggage tags are on each piece they will find their way to your room.

All of the Disney FAQs state you can't book luggage only service. They further state if you don't check in at the Welcome Center your luggage will stay at the airport. The reason is to handle those cases in which a guest is bumped from a flight. If the luggage gets to MCO without the guest Disney wants to keep your luggage at the airport until you arrive.

There are a number of threads where people were discussing working around the system to get luggage only transfers. You might wait and see.

I got another e-mail stating clearly, that NO, at this time they only take luggage of passangers using the express, this is to avoid having a lot of luggage on the buses. It may be offered in the future.

I have been quite throughout all the conversations because I am not very good with my PC or the internet... I have to say I was excited to be a part of the ME and was reading all the post from all the more experienced forum people.. I was excited with the ME all the way up to the hotel which in my mind was a little slow and very crowded.. Every thing at the Contemporary was good untill the bags were lost and my 4 day vacation was almost in the toilet...I was very upset but the hotel took care of me and my family and gave me a refund on my stay and a $50 voucher for a taxi back to the airport. I have to say this vaction was almost lost but as always disney tried there best to make it right... I just wanted to try ME because it was new!! Next time I will look at taking some other form of transportation...

I love the Morrocon restaurant....

How about this:
What if I wait around for my luggage and then board the ME? Is there room on the bus for luggage or storage underneath? This could be an option.

Luggage with the yellow DME tags is pulled before or after it reaches baggage claim. It goes to a sorting facility and then to the resort by truck for delivery to the room by bell services.

Luggage not tagged with yellow DME tags may be claimed before checking into the Welcome Center and boarding the bus. This luggage may be stored on the bus below in the bagggage compartment.

Luggage not tagged with DME luggage tags and not collected before checking in at the welcome desk will be collected by DME luggage staff, taken to the luggage sorting facility, and taken to the resort my truck.
