Help me please. Our flight arrives at 5:10(SWA) and I am wanting a dinner reservation at Crystal Palace for that night. Do you think 8:15/8:30 would give us enough time? Would early check in help speed up the process?

I think it's a mistake to book a dinner that requires the credit card guarantee on your arrival night, and especially with only 3 hours from landing to the ADR time. There are just too many possible things that could delay you on a travel day.

The general rule of thumb is to allow about three hours from when you land to when you're walking into a park. I think there is an okay chance that you'd be able to make an 8:30 pm or later ADR, but it's up to you decide if you want to chance the no show fee if you're running late.

I don't know if early check in really helps that much, but if you're willing to spend a bit, taking a taxi from your resort to MK might be a big time saver (unless you're staying at the CR, in which case it's no help). As to be taken to the CR and then walk to the MK (if you ask to be taken to MK, a taxi will drop you off at the TTC).

I think if everything goes as scheduled, you might just make it. But if your flight is late getting in or there's a longer than usual wait for a DME bus, you'd be cutting it close. Now with the no-show penalties for dining, I'm hesitant to make first day dining ressies unless I'm giving myself a pretty wide berth of time.

Not sure if this is of interest, but I just went back and looked at our "stats" from our April 2013 trip.

Our flight was scheduled to land at 11:05 a.m.

At 11:25 a.m. I took a pic of the "New Fantasyland" sign just before you get on the airport Monorail - so it must've taken us about 20 minutes to get off the plane and make our way out of the terminal (and we probably made a quick bathroom stop for DD). From that point it was just over an hour to make our way downstairs, wait for a DME bus and ride to our resort. The timestamp on my pic of the entrance of POR says 12:27.

You'd also have to allow time to check in and go to your room to drop your things. Will you want to freshen up? If so that's a little more time. Then transportation to MK - not sure which hotel you're staying at but bus vs. monorail vs. walking (if you are at Contemporary) will make a time difference here.

Just my two cents! Good luck :goodvibes.

Yeah I am thinking we will skip a reservation for that night. I will still do FP+ for the MK that night and hopefully we can make it there in time for a few rides. Thanks

I think you made a good choice. Landing at 5:15 and having an ADR for 8:15 would be too close for me as you never know when something might happen to delay the flight, getting to your resort, etc.
