Magic Express or car rental???

We have always had a car..I was planning to do ME this time but starting to change my mind. we will be at the GF? anyone else who always has a car use ME? What did you like or dislike?

Why not try DME and if you feel you need a car once you get to WDW, then you can always rent one for a few days at the Swan&Dolphin?

We have rented a car, used a Town Car service with a grocery stop, and used DME.
I prefer DME to all options.
When we rented we found that the car spent most of the week simply parked in the hotel lot. We seldom leave Disney property and we prefer to use Disney transportation. Not having to drive is part of the vacation for us. DME saves us a lot of money.
The other thing I do when using DME is think about using cabs for some of our resort to resort dinner ADR's. A cab or 2 for dinner is still much cheaper than renting a car for a week, and we don't need to worry about a "Designated Driver" for the return trip.
As suggested, once you are there if you really feel you need the car you can rent from the property - or nearby.

I prefer having a car at my disposal. It allows us to go off-property for various things, such as shopping at the Character Premier or buying groceries (we always stay at a DVC resort), and frees me from waiting around for the bus when I want to go somewhere on property.

I have tried both and I will probably keep renting a car. That being said, there was absolutely nothing wrong with ME for me. I just feel trapped if I don't have a car even if I don't use it much.

That being said, my advice is to do ME this time. Go ahead and try it. You may decide that you prefer ME to renting a car.

We rented a car last trip after several with DME and decided it was our last rental. The only exception is our long trip in January in a two-bedroom. Then we like to have breakfast and snacks in the room, so we'll do a one day rental to go shopping.

I take the kids on DME and DH picks up the rental and meets me at the resort
