I usually drive, however this time my bestie and I will be going and we are flying. We plan on using Magic Express! I read on another thread that it can take up to 7 hours to get to the resort!!? :crazy2:
I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback?
Would we be better off finding another form of transportation from the airport to resort? I've planed FP for later in the day!!
25 DAYS!!!! :yay::yoda::ewok:

Seven hours?! That's craziness. Plan for about an hour and a half. But it could take less than that.

Where did you read that???

It's typically 70 to 90 minutes from the moment you step off the plane.

I would love to see the thread where you read seven hours, because there is no way it would ever take that long. And while an hour and a half is more accurate, that's an hour and a half from the time the plane lands (or possibly when you get off the plane) till the time you get to the resort, not how long the drive from the airport to the hotel takes.

um what?

never have i experienced that and it seems like someone was completely exaggerating.

it takes about 30 minutes to get to walt disney world.

it then depends on what resort you are staying at.

for example last week i stayed at POP but we dropped guests off at AOA first.

i was off DME at POP within 50 minutes of getting on at the airport.

It was in a thread for CBR (that's where we are staying) After I read that I got a little nervous. We are supposed to land that morning and I don't have any FP planned until 5PM. I wanted to give us time to get there and get our stuff to our room.....and decorate our window! :yoda:

Thank you all for your fast response!! You are AWESOME!

It may take up to 3 hours for your luggage to arrive in your room so pack in your carry on whatever you'd like to have that first day in the parks. I'd move your FPs up. You won't be able to get any same day FPs until you use all 3 that were booked in advance.
In Sept our flight arrived at 4:25pm and our first FP at EPCOT was the 6-7pm window. I didn't think we'd get there by 6 but knew we'd be there by 7. It worked out perfectly. We had 3 FP in a row then EMH from 9-11pm. We got on everything we liked in just a few hours!

Love Magical Express. Overall its been very good, had to wait once approx 20 minutes to board and 15 minutes to leave after that. Of course if I rented a car (and didn't get lost) and had to get my own luggage it may have taken just as long.

It will usually take between 60-90 minutes from arrival at MCO to arriving at your resort when using DME.

I remember there was a post a few days ago on the CBR thread where someone mentioned stormy weather and said it took 7 hours for their luggage to arrive at the resort so they couldn't go swimming.

And that could have been alleviated by following the very sensible advice of packing everything you'll need for the first 24 hours in your carry on.

The post the OP is referring to reports their LUGGAGE took 7h to get to the hotel... but even that is an exception not the rule.

We always pick up our own luggage rather than have Disney take it on the trip out to MCO, but let them take it on the trip back, it's just our personal preference. My sister is a practical worry-wart, which is great for Disney trips because she packs us each a carry-on bag with the essentials in case the luggage gets lost. Toothbrushes and a small tube of paste each, socks and a change of underwear, deodorant, etc. Even waiting to pick up our luggage it has never taken us more than an hour to get to the All-Star Resorts, which is where we've stayed the last few trips.

The day we are flying back, we don't fly until really late that day (7pm!)
How does the magic express work? Do we send our luggage when we check out or can we leave it at the resort?
When do we need to catch the magic express or should we just take a cab to the airport?
Sorry so many questions!! But thank you so much for the advice!!! Awesome, you are!! :yoda:

magical express runs 24/7.
if you have a 7pm flight your magical express bus time would be at about 4pm.
you will receive info about your magical express time the day/evening before you check out.

as long as your airline does resort airline check in you can check your bags right at the resort and you'll see them at your final destination.

you must check your bags no less than 3 hours prior to your flight if you are going to do so at the resort.

you could also store your bags at the resort and then bring them on the magical express bus with you if you'd like but be sure to give yourself plenty of time to drop them off and pick them up because sometimes the line to store and retrieve your luggage can be long.

if you do just store your luggage and then take it on magical express with you be sure to give yourself enough time at the airport to go to your airline's check in counter to check it in.

And when we arrive at MCO, as long as our luggage has the tags on it, we just go from the plane to the bus, right? No need to go to baggage claim to get our luggage?
