Since you will need to pick up your checked bags when you land in Edmonton and in Toronto you would then put the Magical Express tags on after clearing US Customs in Toronto, because that's when you would put your checked bags on the carousel so they can be sent to your flight.

Quick Question, we have always flown through the US, this time we are flying from Ottawa to Toronto; then Toronto to MCO.

This means once landing in Toronto, l have to collect my Luggage. Put my yellow stickers on then head through US-pre clearance (hoping i have enough time between my flights), then catch my flight to MCO. Then I won't have to worry about my luggage once arriving in MCO. Is that correct?

You're welcome.

Yes that is correct.

if we fly either Jet Blue or SouthWest from Buffalo to MCO, are we able to use the ME service to have the bags automatically picked up at the airport and transferred to our room ? and when departing , we can check in our bags at the resort so we don't even have to carry them to the airport and just hop on the plane back to Buffalo ?

Also, do we have to use the coach service when arriving ? Can we let them take care of the bags and we take off with a rental to outmall etc and go to the resort at night ?

Appricate your feedback..thanks.

Yes you can have them deliver your bags to your resort after you land at MCO, just make sure to put the yellow tags on them. You can also check them at your resort when flying from Orlando to Buffalo, since you will still be flying within the United States.

As for your other question if you use the yellow tags when you land in Orlando you won't see the bags until they arrive in your room, so no one else will need to take your checked bags.

My SIL left for WDW yesterday, and they booked thru a very reputable "disney specialist travel agent" ... I was absolutely FLOORED the other night when I asked her if she finally got her DME tags ... she replied with "oh, xxxx didn't recommend that we use the luggage service ...she said that she's heard of negative reports." :rolleyes1 I told her that was absolutely WRONG ... their flight was arriving at 4:45 at MCO, and they were of course packing a change of clothes, swimsuit etc in their carryons.

I certainly hope this person gave them this advice because they are also travelling with her brother who "apparently" had a bad DME experience with his luggage, so probably TA knew about it, rather than thinking that this person tells ALL of her clients to schlep their own luggage from the airport.

LOVE LOVE LOVE DME and the luggage service! Hoping that the trial they were doing with Southwest turned them into a "participating airline" because that would be absolute heaven for the return to MCO! :thumbsup2

You didnt say which airline you were flying, be sure to check the participating airlines list to be sure your airline participates in the ME service . Also you can check your baggage at your hotel before your return flight ,once again depending on wether its a participating airline. Go to the Transportation board there a sticky I do believe on the Magic Express there.

For arrival in Orlando, it does not matter which airline you are using. Regardless of the airline used, you can use DME's baggage service (and resort luggage delivery).

Also, for the return trip, you can use the DME bus to be shuttled back to MCO.

However, if you wish to use Resort Airline Check-in (RAC), which allows you to check your baggage at your Disney resort hotel, your final air destination must be within the USA, and the airline must participate with RAC (most mainline scheduled airlines participate).

It really doesn't matter when you put your yellow DME tags on. Just so you don't forget or have to rush if you have a short connection, you can just as easily put them on when you're leaving home. There's no real need to wait until you collect your luggage in Toronto, especially if you're rushed, you probably don't want to add one more thing to worry about.

The DME tags only mean something to the Disney CM's at MCO. As your luggage is transferring through Canadian (or other US) airports they'll just be ignored, the same as the many colourful extras people put on their luggage to help identify it. I guess the only small risk is they might get torn off during the extra handling. But they're, in essence, smaller versions of the airline luggage tags so I don't think you have much to worry about.

Coming home, there are no tags to worry about as you will be travelling with your luggage. You take it to the DME bus, and then check it in with you at MCO.
