Magic express bag question

I’m arriving at MCO at 8pm, taking the Magic Express to Pop Century and then transferring to BLT the next morning. Should I let Disney get my checked bags, or should I retrieve them myself? I typically let them take my bags, but I usually fly in the morning. Will they bring my bags to me that night? If there’s a delay, will the hotel transfer be confusing for my bag delivery? Any experiences? Thanks!

I would get my bags. Your other options are luggage delivery that night (3-4 hours after you arrive) or attempting to tell Bell Services to hold your bags until the morning. If there is a mix-up, yes, you'll be dealing with luggage headaches in the morning.

I'd let them take your bags. As long as you have what you need for the first 24 hours (as experienced travelers do) don't worry about it. When you check in, tell bell services to hold your luggage until you call the next morning. Then to be sure they don't try to deliver it late at night, put the Do Not Disturb sign on your door.

Had the same dilemma this past August. Never gave it a thought and let them take the bags. Flight landed around 845, got to the room about 10. Waited up for a few hours and the bags never came. Got up the next morning and still no bags. Had to call and explain why I needed them right away. They sent a bellman up with an empty cart to pick up my bags. Had a good laugh with him.

Based upon that experience I would definitely take the extra few minutes and get my own bags. You'll be getting to the room so late you are probably not doing anything night of arrival, so the added time wont hurt you. That way you can have peace of mind knowing where they are when you change rooms. Just my opinion.

Have a great trip!!

We arrived at 9pm, let DME manage our bags, and stopped by Bell Services (not just the front desk) upon arrival at our resort, to tell them to hold the bags there until morning. Worked like a charm. We had the ease of dropping off the bags at our home airport, and not having to see them again until a porter brought them to our resort room the next morning.

I recommend you pack what you need for the first night in your shoulder bag, and use DME's bag handling service for the rest. I love not having to deal with luggage much on my trips. It's one of the top Disney resort perks imo.

This is how we always do it. If we arrive before 10:00, no matter how close it is, we let them get our bags.
If we are moving to another resort the next morning we tell them to hold the bags because we are moving and we give them our carry ons to add to those and they move all of them. If we aren't moving we just have them bring the bags the next morning.
Both methods work great.
Not having to hit baggage claim is one of the top 5 reasons we stay on property and I'm not giving that up unless I have to
