Our first use of the Magic Eraser was on our travel trailer, to clean the EXTREMELY STUBBORN black marks from the awning. It was, by far, the best item we have used. I also used it on the "scum line" on the white steps going into our pool. This is another VERY difficult area to clean and it was absolutely amazing.
I guess because I know it is a very strong cleaner I never even considered using it on a painted surface. I expect it would take the paint off, and if someone told me it ate into the drywell I would not be too surprised! It does not really smell, nor did it irritate our hands (granted we washed them quickly after using) but it obviously has some very powerful chemicals. I think that there are probably few areas inside my home I would use it, but it is wonderful for those tough outside jobs.
