Magic Drydock in October...anyone heard this?

There was a thread with pic's the last time the Magic was in driydock. I can't seem to find the thread though.

All this talk of dry dock has aroused my curiosity. Where do they put the ships for dry dock and does anybody have pictures or know  whether there is a web cam?

The ships go to Norfolk VA for drydock. Last time someone posted pics, but no web-cam that I can remember.

We booked the October 14, 2006 Double Dip to Costa Maya while on board the April 2, 2005 Eastern, and the on-board sales CM said the Magic would be in drydock the first two weeks of October 2006. She must have been looking at 2005 at that particular time, according to what this thread shows. Good--I really had a tinge of buyer's regret afterwards, thinking I would be on the first cruise after a drydock and not wanting to deal with new things that perhaps still needed a bit of fine tuning.

Re: the deck 9 and 10 comment, I hope they get some form of inclement weather access to Pluto's. Our cruise had the downpour wash-out of CC while docked (which was a let down but all in all it was still our best cruise ever), and you could get to Scoops in the rain because of the deck 10 overhang, but for Pluto's you had to get soaked and then your food had to be brought through the rain. I have always found that to be a design flaw, and just short sightedness I suspect, so hopefully they give that a covered access.
If they are going to add a retractable roof to a pool for potential west coast/alaskan purposes, I think it is a good long term addition, I just don't know enough about ship's architecture to know if that can be done in a relatively short dry dock.

It will be interesting to see what changes get made.

October 15, 2005 - is it time to cruise yet??????

:fish: :fish:

Don't I wish! We booked this thing LAST Winter. I am so excited that we are less than six months away!

The Magic is going to dry dock in Norfolk, VA in October. We were told this by numerious cms last week. Every cm we talked to asked us where we were from and when we told them West Virginia everyone started telling us how they would be there in October when the Magic is dry docked. Of course this then led into a lenghty explanation about Virgina and West Virgina being two different states, so a few cms learned a little US geography last week. lol

Our server seemed excited about the two weeks in Norfolk. They work shorter hours with a two hour lunch break and are done with work at 6:00 and have the rest of the evening free.

I live in Northern Virginia and will be sailing on the first sail after dry dock. I really think that they should just let us meet them at Norfolk and sail down to Port Canaveral with them. :)

Does anyone know where they dry dock the ships? We live right outside of Tampa and we see ships dry docked there every now and then. Sure would be SO cool to see the ship we will be going on, getting ready for us

OOPS! :confused3 After I posted the "where do the ships dock" question, I looked up and saw you already answered!!! I must have hit a button that skipped something! Sorry!
