Has anyone ever compiled a list of all the staterooms that have portholes with defects aka bubbles in the window? I wonder if the Wonder also has them. ? We had one on the Magic or Wonder, I can't remember which now. The picture below was just posted by someone on a fb page.

Magic room 2126

Yes. We had the same thing on our Med/WBTA B2B cruises. We were in room 2108. I believe there were about 3 other rooms with the same problem. We were told that they had to replace the windows and the manufacturing process was the problem. But they had to use the ones with the bubbles in them until they could get clear ones.

I think I read someone's trip report sometime after our trip and the window no longer had the bubbles.

It kind of made some interesting shots, though:

The picture I posted was just taken today on the Magic, so apparently this porthole was not replaced. The first review (on The DIS) for this room was written in 2008 and the bubbles were there then.

I was in 2128 (next door) last year before the rehab and our window was clear.

Ah no :guilty: I've just booked this room for our Med 2016 cruise! We wanted a verandah room but prices were a little too high so choose this room instead. (2108) I've now been reading so much complaints about the bubbles in the windows.

Has anyone been in this stateroom recently? Is it still the same? I know its not really a big deal but was so excited after booking the cruise and I'm a little dissapointed now reading this. Are many of the room windows like this?

Haven't been back in that room, but I would hazard a guess that, since Magic had a major upgrade, any windows with those issues were "fixed". Hopefully, someone who's been in that room recently will chime in. I believe the windows with those defects were replacements due to the original windows needing replacement (for whatever reason).

Thanks PrincessShmoo,

I was thinking that it would of been changed after the refurb but I wasn't too sure as the first post said they took the photo in July 2014 of the other room. I thought the magic got the upgrade in January 2014?

Anyways, I changed my room to 2116 just in case :) as it seems to have ok reviews.

What did you think of the location on deck 2? We stayed on deck 5 last time on the magic (in an inside) and it was perfect for the kidsclub, I really wanted to get a verandah room on deck 5 but I don't want to spend another third of the price we already paid. My only other choice would be to go for an inside again I guess? What did you think of Deck 2? I really don't know if I should keep it or go for Deck 5 again.

The re-imagining was in Sep 2013. As I speculated, I think those windows with the bubbles are replacements they have on hand for quick fixes, until are real replacement window can be manufactured. I could be wrong.

I love deck 2. That's where we've stayed on all our Wonder and Magic cruises. Actually fairly quiet, easy access to tender deck, dining rooms, elevators (generally getting on the elevator on a top or bottom floor is much easier than trying to catch one in the middle).

Just adding an update - we had 2030 on the Magic earlier this month and did have a few bubbles in our window. Not a ton like an earlier picture but enough it was noticeable. It didn't ruin our experience, but they were there. I also noticed them up on deck 3, outside Lumiere's in the bigger windows.

I am on the Magic now, seen people on deck 2 struggle with busy elevators from Cabanas with food to their rooms when we were going down to leave the ship.

There is quite a bit wrong with the ship now not just windows with issues, ( due to age) but our verandah 1 of the 3 didn't close, an air con panel in the ceiling fell in the night, the plumbing on toilets can be problematic , all fixed quickly but shouldn't occur. The dry dock will sort it out.

Oh no Disney Fantasy!!! don't tell me that!!! We're due on the magic in 3 weeks,,

I wouldn't be too concerned. We just spent 20 nights on the Magic on back-to-back Norway, Norway/Iceland cruises. We had no issues in our first stateroom (on deck 8) and a few issues in our cat 6 stateroom on the second cruise. We had water on our verandah which leaked into our room and our toilet didn't flush one day. Both issues were fixed immediately and the CM's were so incredibly nice. To "make up" for the issues, they put cute Cars sheets on my son's bed and left us some popcorn and other treats. It was really nothing that impacted the enjoyment of our room or cruise.

We also had no issues and toilet flushed every time :) Deck 2 was awesome and we were closer to the forward elevators and when we didn't take the stairs, we didn't have any problems with the elevators. I noticed the laundry on deck 2 "leaked" two different times but that might have been a guest error, not sure. It was cleaned up quickly when it did happen.

I would not hesitate to sail the Magic, or any of the ships

Deck 2 on the Magic in the Baltic - the cruise before DF's.

We did not have any issues. We might have had some of the spots in our porthole - but who cares really. Even the the one in the picture above, you are looking THROUGH the window, not AT the window. Yep it can make for some interesting pictures (you should see my Berlin pictures from inside the bus when it was pouring down rain), but deck four is only a quick 2 flights of stairs up for a totally unobstructed view of the ocean.

We use the stairs not the lifts. Get to eat more desserts that way. The only time we take the elevators is to get up to Palo for Brunch and/or Dinner - don't want to be pitted out when we arrive. Thigh muscles get a great workout!!

Just returned from the 12 night Northern European in room 2124 today. No problems in the porthole and no plumbing problems. The room was in good condition except the table with had some chipping on the edge.
Love Deck 2, like jrabbit says its close to deck 4 and 3 for the restaurants etc. Only had to wait for a second elevator today when everyone was heading to breakfast with their debarkation luggage.

We may have been unlucky.

Last year on the Magic, not our room but on our deck there was a leak of an unpleasant kind they had to wash it up and dehumidify the area.

This time we had two toilets.

One broke down wouldn't flush, they came said it was air in the system and corrected it.
Ok for a few nights.
Then one stopped as before wouldn't 'suck' and the other then when used once, continuously sucked and wouldn't stop.

We had a sound of water gushing or gurgling back and forth for the 12 nights.

Maintenance blamed air.

We had an air con panel come down at 1.25 am in Dock in St Petersburg ie not at sea as it was an over night stay and it came down with a bang. The air filter on it was covered in thick dust not service for some time. It work us up, I worked on the desk under it, if it came down when i was there, i would have had a cut on my forehead. Photo on my trip report.

These are isolated cases, do not worry, they were annoying but fixed quickly and I am sailing on the Magic again next year, but some maintenance is poor.

We had a bottle of wine and an OBC for service recovery for the faults.

I would say, do not worry but be aware and if it occurs complain they will fix it quickly.
