Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - ***UPDATED - post #411 ***

Hi!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Just back to say bye bye for the final time!!:sad1:

I've heard from TA and I have been transferred to the 7 night with the same room as we would have had on the Magic.

Anyway, hope your cruise is everything you want it to be and hopefully I will meet some of you on another cruise sometime!!

Take care!!:grouphug:

Amy -

We'll miss you!! :sad1: However, I am happy for you that you have come to a decision, I know that you struggled with it. In the end, you have to do what is right for your family, which is the most important thing. I'm sure that you will have an absolutely fabulous vacation on the 7 day Wonder cruise. Drop by and say hi every now and then. :flower3:

Thanks Carolyn!!

It was really tough for me and I feel quite upset about it tonight:sad1:, but ultimately the final decision came down to what time we were going to be able to spend at WDW.

When Steve realised that we would be at disney for the busiest week of the year if we went after the 11 night, then he said we should definitely swap - and I guess he's right, I would never be able to explain to the boys why they were having to wait so long for the rides. This way we can do all the parks before the 23rd Dec cruise when hopefully they shouldn't be too bad!:thumbsup2

There are very few names on the Wonder thread, so I hope it picks up as I really want to do a fish extender exchange!!!

But I really hope you guys have a wonderful time, I will try not to think of you to much!!:cutie: Take care!!

We will miss you Amy. We will see you around the boards.

. . . Still trying to convince my 11 year old ds that Christmas on the ship will be much better than Christmas at home . . .

Greetings all!

I have just booked this cruise for my family (me, DW, DD14, DD12 at the time of sailing). We had a cruise booked for this summer, but cancelled due to economic reasons. When looking at when we could reschedule, the 11 day seems like a very good choice. The other option was a 5 day Wonder cruise next summer, but that's just too short.

The big question is when will school let out for the Christmas break, and how many days would be missed. If the school system follows 2009-2010 calendar, we should be out on Friday, December 17 and they won't have to miss any school. If they have school into the following week, we may need to reconsider if they will miss too much.

DD12 is almost at the age when Christmas on board would be acceptable, and I think after this year, it would be a definite that she would be fine.

I only read the last page of posts (sorry to hear about OP going a different route, but totally understandable). I will try to catch up, and see if we cruised with any of you before. I look forward to meeting you all through the boards.

Welcome to the group! We are cruising with me :wave2:, DH, DD who will be 13 on cruise and DS who will be 9. We did Christmas a couple of years ago when DD was 10 and DS was 6 and they had not problem with the Christmas thing.

I am also waiting for the school schedule. I have a feeling that the kids will end up missing a couple of days, but it is worth it to me!! As long as they do not miss more then 4 days, I think I will be okay with it.

Welcome again!

Let me know if you need my DD to give his a call to convince him. :thumbsup2

Hmmm . . . not a bad idea!! My DS will be 13 then as well. Maybe he'll be interested in girls by then :lovestruc , and your DD will be able to convince him!

Helloooooooooooooooo

:welcome:

Nice to have you Cruising with us

:cheer2::cool1::dance3:

I just sent my info for the spreadsheet of all the cruisers, but I had another idea of how we can 'meet' each other before the cruise.

I have created a Closed group in Facebook for the cruise. Closed means that only invited people can see what is in the group, and only the only people invited would be those who are cruising with us. I would recommend that Facebook only be for those items that we would not posted in a public forum. The disboard thread should continue to have the majority of discussion, so that others cruising will be able to find us and join in.

Thoughts on this? If you like, PM me, and I will send a link to my Facebook. And if you don't like it, it is very easy to delete the group. :)

:welcome: from me as well! I have sent you the updated list. As promised earlier, I will convert the format over to Excel. Hopefully I will get to that this week. Things have been just crazy around here lately, I have been neglecting my DIS duties pirate:

Hopefully everybody is keeping well.

Anyone have any exciting plans for the long weekend? We have a street party tomorrow, but nothing else planned.

Not much! Parent are coming to visit tomorrow and I have some shopping to do that I have put off. But, looking forward to a nice long weekend:):hippie:

It rained on our party yesterday, but we still had a good time. Nice relaxing day today watching car races.

Hi everyone, we are considering this cruise...right now I have a SPH cabin booked for spring break 2010. We did spring break this year and loved it, but I would really like to go for even longer than 7 days and I love the ports on this cruise!

My only concern is that DD will be 8 (almost 9) when this cruise rolls around. Of course, it's too early to tell if she will still "believe" but if she does, any suggestions on how to handle this? Is there anyone else sailing with younger kids (like 7-9 year olds) who already have ideas in mind on how to go about explaining the whole Santa thing? We cannot afford to have a load of presents from Santa at home like we normally do at Christmas if we are going to do this cruise. DD has mentioned wanting to do the long cruise and I told her that if we considered it we'd have to ask Santa if he coudl just give us money next Christmas instead of gifts since mommy and daddy wouldn't have enough to pay for it all ourselves...she seemed okay with that idea, but of course it's still a year and a half away! So, just looking for suggestions and ideas on how to handle no Santa in 2010 and minimize disappointment...not that there should be any when you're on an 11-night Disney cruise, but you know we're talking about a kid...

Hopefully we will be joining all of you!

We think Santa will be delivering a few small items while on board Christmas Eve. But he will leave most of the presents at our house for when we get home.

Wow! Santa will be too broke to leave much at our house if we go on this cruise...LOL! It doesn't help the budget that DH is insisting on a verandah...we had one last month and now he just can't live without it - :)
