I just had a couple questions reguarding this new game.
Maybe thinking ahead, someone could start a FAQ or add a section to the players guide.

Anyway I only played about two games last night. I know that you get a checkers pin that shows your wins and I think you get 50 credits.

Is there any other prizes for reaching milestones?
Do you get more credits after more wins?

That's it.

Answers? Comment?

I know the answer is yes, I saw someone say 10 wins was 400 credits for instance.

My checkerz skillz are not up to par, dont look for a guide from me ROFL

Dont feel Bad Aengus
Want to know how bad I am at Checkers? My 6 year old Grand daughter beat me at Christmas time and I was trying ;-)

I did notice one thing that seemed odd about checkers. If you're winning the game, and the opponent surrenders, it will say that you won, but it won't give you credit for the win on the Magic Checkers pin.

I don't know if that's a bug or part of the game, but I can see a lot of sore losers quitting instead of playing until they have no more moves.

Oh, just to clarify, the person who surrendered the game is a friend, and we both were surprised that the surrender cost me the credit for the win.

I lost the first 3-4 games I played, so I understand why the number on the pin didn't advance any.

But then I won a game and it jumped from 0 to 2.
After that I won like 6 games in a row and it didn't advance any at all.
The 6 games I won were all against the same person. Does it only count different people you win against and not the number of games?

Also sometime I couldn't move the checker when it was my turn, and other times the game moved my checker for me.

So far I'm not impressed.

I'll try my best to answer questions..

CAJUNWDWFAN, the scale does increase. For level 20, I recieved 800 credits.

Briar, have you played with this friend before? If so, that is your answer. You can only earn one point from a win against a friend. So if you played this friend and won before, you won't get a second point. I've always recieved credit for a win when someone gave up otherwise.

Cat, same deal. Your score won't go up by playing the same person over and over again. It is not how many GAMES you won but how many PEOPLE you have won against.

Hopefully that clears that up.

With only limited time playing it so far and from reading, not sure why it would jump to 2 but you are correct - no credit for beating the same person over and over, but if they ever beat you they can take the point away. If you do not move by the time the counter runs down, the computer will make the next move it decides is practical. (notice I did not say best move) Checkers doesn't excite me much, so while I think they did an excellant job designing the rooms and putting together the game...I to am not greatly impressed just yet. Sure, I will play the games. In the few games I played I have already encountered people that attempt to intimidate the other player and I have seen some ugly tactics used while whatching (standing in line)

So let me ask another question.

Do you get credits for each different person you beat?
And do you win if your opponent quits the game? Or do you have to play till one person wins?

Had a kid try to pull a funny one on me a little bit ago.

I was clearly going to win, so he said, "If you quit, your [level] goes up much faster."

So I said, "Okay, then quit."

"No thanks, but you can if you want to [level up] faster."

"Well, I like playing the game, so I think I'll stay and play. Thanks anyway."

It's just like the peer pressure exercises I had to take my Homeroom kids through last week... lol

I posted this in another thread but looks like it would help better in here :)

My 2 cents on checkers
I love it!
As for challenges, they arent working bc the games were so full but just like mansion when IT is full if you KEEP CLICKING you will eventually get an empty room.

I have a feeling the "Smack talk" is going to be worse in checkers then in pirates, if that is possible...apparetly the top person on the list has a very big ego and "ownes" everyone he beats the fact that he used about 800 credits worth of magic to win the game concerns me.
I agree with another poster that it should not be one time use magic, it should be one time GAME magic. If they have 5 pins they could win the game in 5 turns pretty much.

I think that the LEVELS of play are like tournament style scoring...
I am a lvl 11 if I loose to a lvl 11 I didnt move down a lvl
but I played and lost to a lvl 0 and went down.
same with my friend who was a lvl 30 she lost to me and lost and lost a lvl but when she played someone closer to her lvl and lost she didnt.
If you beat someone more than once you DO NOT get points.

As for staying in the chairs, win or loose, if there is nobody in the Q waiting for a game you will stay in the seat until you leave on your own.
If you click Give up you loose and the other team wins.

KING ME- The king piece can move 2 places every turn ONLY if you want it too. If you don't want to move 2 spaces, at the top middle of the screen where it is telling you whos turn it is there is a button (after you move the king once) that says stop turn. Play will then go back to your opponent.
So far here is the prize breakdown...
First game - Checkers Pin (also 25 credits if you win)
Level 5 - 100 credits
Level 10 - 400 Credits
Level 20 - 800 credits
Level 30 Nothing. I have a feeling nothing more intill 50 probably 2000 Credits

Hope this sheds some light on the game for everyone, I am sure it is all going to be trial and error for a while but it was a GREAT addition to vmk and I am Lovin it!

Oh and Yavn...how about some Tetris in that arcade????? :rotfl:

I was beaten by someone earlier today that used a number of magic pins to obtain a serious advantage over me. It was clear that he was going to win after a few of his magics...

So, shortly before he won I stated, "I hope all of the credits were worth it." He responded, surprisingly, that they weren't.

My thoughts on the use of magic during the game? Have at it. If you want to waste 200-1500 credits for a single game of checkers, then enjoy your victory.

If anyone wants to spend all their credits just to have a lot of wins, then they will reap the benefits of their spending. Me? I'm not going to waste my time/efforts on using magic during the game...unless I get bored. lol

Have fun, all!

I actually think Adventuredaz answered my question! I didn't realize my point would be taken away if someone I beat then turned around and beat me in a game. (I played against Jedi, and I had 2 on my pin before I lost to him.)

I played a different friend and noticed the 2 was still on my pin, so I had thought the win didn't register. I guess the pin count worked both for and against me. :)

I think this is a really great question and a huge misunderstanding people have about the pin. The number is NOT your wins. It's people you have won against.

Ex: If you and I play and you win, your number will go up 1. If we play again and I win, your number will go down and I will go up. It is not your wins. It is people you have beat. Therefore, you cannot play against 1 friend all day and get 20 points if you win every game.

Hope that helps clear that up. Lots of ppl seem to have that question.

Magic issue: Somewhere way ^ there I said this and I firmly stand behind it. The way vmk has set this up with the magic is fun but VERY wrong. If you are a credit-rich player you can rule the kingdom in Magic Checkers. The pins need to be not 1x use, but maybe has a refresh time such that you can only use it once per game. Or maybe it should be a button in the game that can only be used once per game like "explode all" is in fireworks. If another player is willing to spend 1,000 credits on magic to win, you cannot compete if you aren't credit rich. Hopefully VMK will see this and adjust it. This really is the only huge flaw I see with the design of the game. Otherwise, I like it.

So is using magic "cheap" like using gold in pirates :rolleyes1 I bet these people rolling out credit for magic in checkers are the same people screaming cheap and other things in pirates. I think I will stock up on a few if I decide I will play some so I may use it if someone tries to pull it on me. I wonder can you add it to your lanyard mid game?

Haha Add! No, not at all the same thing. Gold is a tool in pirates that everyone can use and has equal access to. My point about the magic in checkers is that it is EXACTLY the opposite. Not everyone can use it and not everyone has equal access to it. If you have a million credits, you could just bury your opponents game after game with magic and never miss the money. No other vmk game gives an advantage to the credit rich. It's a problem they need to address. (And I know you were just teasing....)

Yes, you can add it to your lanyard mid game, but you cannot buy it mid-game.

This was my thought, Adventuredaz. I already heard someone in line for checkers say "Only chickens use magic." I thought to myself this will become the "cheap" of checkers.

I really haven't thought through if I like the magic for the checkers game. I do agree with Dreams that you can rule if you are rich with credits. That is true with furnishings and clothes too in VMK I guess. Since this is a game, it does seem like some limit on using it should be there or the opponent has no chance.

I did buy one of each magic, but it seems like an expensive way to victory. I may use them--if I ever figure out how and when you can do it. LOL

Hey, I'd rather spend my credits on multi-use magic, clothes and furniture. If others want to spend all of their credits on magic just to win checkers, then more power to them.

Later, when I play them again and they don't have magic because they're poor, I'll take my point back. ;) That way, they'll lose twice...all their credits and all their checkers points.

Also, I'm not penalized by losing, so if they win with magic, then so be it...

Wow! Something we disagree on, Jegrezo...Who'da thunk?! ;)

I don't like one use magic of any kind. Seems like such a waste of credits.

I bought the two checkers magic pins because VMK_Red was in the shop telling us how it made checkers more fun. I bought them before I even saw the checkers room. She was a great advertisement and in the excitement I didn't even think about the purchase. Kind of wish I had my credits back, but that's what I get for impulse purchase. :rotfl:

And thanks Alvern_Boy I will do that.
