Those are amazing pictures! We have never seen the Statue of Liberty. We hope that the New York port isn't too difficult. We've only traveled out of Florida and Texas where it's all very easy and organized. We did it back in 2012 when the Magic was last in NY. We had a fabulous time. Ours was a 5 days cruise. Not sure of your itinerary. We did Halifax and I think St. John's. Let me know if you have specific questions about the port of New York. Make sure you are out on deck when passing the Statue of Liberty and going under the Verazzano Narrows Bridge. I love sailing out of NYC.

From the map I looked at the port is downtown near the train station. I wish I could be on that cruise with you!

Love love love these pictures. I was wondering if you remember when port adventures were posted for your cruise. I am not so patiently waiting for the St. John's ones to be listedActually the port is located on the West side of Manhattan at about 52nd Street and 12th Ave. right at the Hudson River (along the Westside Highway). There is no train station nearby (or do you mean subway?). Don't know about that. You can walk several blocks to Times Square from there but no train station. Also the Intrepid Air/Space Museum is literally next door to the port and can be walked to in about 3 minutes. Last year when we did the Transatlantic from PC the first stop was Manhattan (pretty funny since we live about 30 minutes from the NYC port) and we went to the Intrepid Museum. It was very interesting.

The pics above are:
Another shot of the SOL
The Freedom Tower (which is now complete) aka WTC
Pulling into the Port
The Intrepid Air/Space Museum
The Magic from the Intrepid (literally at the next pier)
The Magic as seen from the the sidewalk in front of the port...yes, its that close!!
You will also pass the West side of Manattan, the East side of New Jersey, Ellis Island and the NYC Financial District plus many water craft like tankers, the Staten Island Ferry, NY Waterway Ferries, personal boats, sailboats, etc. It is beautiful sailing down or up the Hudson River to the port.
If you plan on parking at the port it is very steep but convenient. It is roof top parking. Here is a link to the New York Passenger Ship Terminal website.

I just looked for shore excursions and only see ones for Halifax. Are there any for St Johns? We're getting close to the 120 day mark and want to pick our excursions early. We've sailed out of NY on NCL, but this will be our first time out of NY on Disney!
I guess it depends on your depends on your definition of far, but Penn station is about 2 miles.

In NY terms, that's far. Especially when you're dealing with luggage. Anyone coming into NYC via Penn Station, I would strongly recommend a cab to the port.
Oh I never meant to imply it was walking distance, just that it was closer to the train station than the airport.
I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but just wondering.. how long does it take to warm up when cruising in October from NYC to Florida/Bahamas? We are considering the Bahamian NYC cruise to Orlando and Castaway Cay. We are in SW Ontario and most of the time October is still very warm, often mid 20's until at least mid month. Some years it's still that in November (like last year) I'm assuming NYC is the same. But assuming we are cruising end of October and it's chilly in New York. How long before you can wear shorts and swim?
