When you "purchase" something with a MB, you aren't really charging to your MB. When you buy something the total is charged to your room. Since Disney can't send park charges to off site hotels, only on site guests can pay with a magic band

Who knows in the future if you can link a debit card to your mde account and a magic band reads it's info there.

The reason you can if you are staying onsite is because you are charging to your room reservation.

Nope, though I honestly wish they would change that, and have the magic band work like Samsung Pay, or Apple Pay, so that you could attach a credit card, or gift card and just use the band.
