Magic Bands

I hope this is in the right place!

Do magic bands fall off a lot? I have read that they do and wondered if I need to purchase the Bitbelt? I don't know if this makes a difference but I do have to make one smaller for my DD.

I have never had an issue with bands falling off. I ran a half marathon with one on.

to make it smaller, take the grey piece off - then it becomes kid sized -

and no - they dont' fall off

I didn't have any problem but it came off for my adult son once during our 8 days stay. I think as adults we tend to pay attention more but for kids, it's harder to keep track.

My friend's son, who is only 5 years old, lost his and was crying when passing =CM asked why he was crying and he told him he lost his magic band his mom had decorated with Star Wars theme. Nice CM gave him certificate to get new one from the store.

We were part of first test group so we've had a long time and have around 25+ each. First trip DS lost his on RnR. Since it was new he may have played with it and it was not tight. We haven't lost one since. Not something I worry about.

If you're genuinely worried about your MB falling off, or just want a little peace of mind, you can use the small coloured rubber bands for ponytails to keep it secure. It's a lot cheaper than a Bitbelt and works just as well.

You're very welcome. It has the added bonus of allowing your DD colour-coordinate to her heart's delight.

They certainly *can* fall off. Mine would have if I hadn't realized it was almost off, because of taking off and putting on my backpack all day. Easy to catch on the straps.

I haven't had the problem of mine falling off, but while we were on our last trip my dad's fell off a few times, and we found a band on the ground while walking in a ride queue so I think that it is possible for them to fall off. If you are worried about it, invest in a bitbelt, or use PP's elastic suggestion to keep it secure.

Mine fell off constantly last December while wearing it correctly. Almost every time I unfolded the stroller and occasionally when pick up/putting down my DS. Cast members actually offered to replace it for me but I wanted my color.

I was wondering the same thing as op.

We have worn Magic Bands for our last 4 trips I think and never had a problem with one falling off. I think they are pretty secure. I have lost (and found) Bandits but not the bands themselves. You should be fine.

Exactly. Mine has fallen off once or twice but only because I bumped/snagged it on something. I've never had it fall off otherwise, even while braving the waves in TL!!

the hundreds of times I've used them, there was only 1 time where it started to come off and it was completely my fault and not the design of the band. I caught it on something and it started to open so I knew it was coming off. My daughter had a similar situation while on space mountain with how she held on and it caught on that ride. Mine was rnr and I was wearing the band upside down which is why mine caught on that restraint.

I have seen parents suddenly looking for them for a very young child though. It's not impossible for a toddler to pull it off.

It may be that when one falls off often like that it's not going to stop. I'd think it's very possible for one to be defective, holes and/or pegs slightly off or something.

How do you define "wearing it correctly"? I make sure mine is loose enough so that if I flex my wrist it does not pull against the fastened part, but not loose enough to snag on anything or slide over my hand.
