Magic Bands?

We are planning on going to WDW and staying at CBR and AKV next year.
We are going to stay two nights at CBR paying for our room, tickets, and DDP for our stay there.
We are then moving to stay a week at AKV on our points. We will have the DDP there too but all of our tickets will be on our CBR reservation.
I know in the past we just had our tickets transferred to our new KTTW cards and everything was fine.
Will I now get a Magic Band to CBR and then another Magic Band at AKV? And if so, will I still be able to transfer my tickets from my CBR band to the AKV band without any issues?
I am assuming that we will be able to, but I have searched and haven't found much about them. I knew we weren't going this year, so I've kind of been out of the loop. A lot has changed since last May. FP+, Magic Bands, Memory Maker.....I have to keep up.

Both sets of MBs will do the same thing. You dont have to transfer your tickets. They are in your MDE account at Disney. The MBs only access it. You can use which ever MBs you like.

Yes, you can link both reservations to your MDE account. You will get two Magic Bands but no MDE information is actually stored on Magic Bands. All your Magic Band does is reference your MDE account. So both Magic Bands will reference your MDE account and actually work for both stages of your split stay, including your dining credits for the dining plan and your park tickets.

MDE/MDX is like a safe that holds your fast passes, your park tickets, and your resort reservation. Your magic band is a key to the safe. Each magic band is a separate key to the same safe.

We have a split stay in June. 3 days AKL Kidani and 4 day BWV. I understand the MDE acct is accessed with the Magic Bands so either one will work but arent' they also your room key? Don't you need to change them just to get in?

Yes.

And Yes and ...

sort of.


It can all be linked to MDE.

At this time they are still sending out a new set of MB for each individual reservation confirmation number. If that stays the same, you will get two sets of MBs.

But they will all link up to MDE and will do the same thing as each other. NOTHING is stored on the band itself. The bands access the info on mydisneyexperience, and THAT is where the tickets are. It's not like the KTTW day when the info was indeed on the ticket.

You don't have to customize the other set of bands, you don't have to confirm the address, you don't have to accept the bands when they hand the over at the second checkin (if you don't confirm the address that's what will happen). You CAN just use the one and not accept the second.

But you could also confirm both and allow both sets to be sent to you, so that you can have more than one color.

(written by someone who has all colors but yellow at this point, and IF they send the new AP MagicBands to us, I will then have all colors) (and all my MBs have worked interchangeably with no issues)

Don't you need to change them just to get in?

When you check in to the second resort they will probably ask to see one MB, they will do some voodoo with it and their computer, and then it will, unless there's a glitch, work to open your new door. This worked perfectly for us with FOUR separate reservations in January.
