Magic bands with conference tickets?

Hello helpful Disers,
I will be staying at the Dolphin for a conference in June and my kids want Magic bands. As part of the conference, I get discount tickets. Does anyone know if you can get Magic bands with the conference tickets?
Also would it be worth it to stay at another resort for just one night and then move to the Dolphin to get the Magic bands? I would rather do that than pay $12.95 per band.

1- You don't get MagicBands by buying any kind of tickets except AP's.
You get MagicBands by staying at a WDW resort.

2- Not to me, but...
