Magic Bands--Will they ship or will we pick up at resort?

We are booking two separate stays at two different resorts, bookending a beach trip in FL. We will not be booking until the first of July and the trip will take place around mid July. My question is will we get one or two sets of Magic Bands? And, will the bands ship in time to get them before we leave? Or will we get the gray ones once we check in at our resort? We usually book 6months+ out from our check in so we are clueless!

You get a set of Magic Bands for each reservation. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get them sent to you with such a short window, but you won't be stuck with grey just because you have to pick them up at the resort. If that was the case, then guests who can't get the bands sent to them because they're from Canada or overseas wouldn't be able to customize them either, and that's not the case.

Thanks for the reply. Not too terribly worried about color options, but to kids it's a big deal . Had heard when we went in Feb that if you picked up your bands at the resort then they were all gray. Glad to know that may not be the case.

I'm pretty sure you can get any color you like at the resort. As long as it's grey!

Was just there in May with a split stay and didn't worry about getting bands in advance. In both cases they were at the resort waiting and were grey. We had no choice.

The default is grey, just be sure to customize your magic bands online as soon as you book your stay and yes they will be shipped out immediately by 2-day delivery for short booking windows (Based on my experience earlier this month). I've never picked up the magic bands at the resort, but I'd think as long as you customize your color online you'll get that color at the resort, but if you don't customize ahead of time, the default is grey so that is what you get.

And yes you get a magic band for each reservation. I am actually annoyed with this, I often go for short stays as an annual passholder to catch different special events like 24-hours, harambe nights, villains unleashed, Christmas, etc. Now I have every color and am starting on duplicate colors!

Oh and all the magic bands are interchangeable for each person. So you can use whichever one you want for either resort stay. It isn't linked to a particular reservation just to you as an individual and the computer will know all the reservations, park tickets and fastpasses under your name. You can monitor all this online in My Disney Experience to make sure the computer has it all correct for you and your family.

Yeah, it sounds like JoeA didn't go online to customize his bands. (At least that's what I'm assuming since he said he didn't worry about getting his bands in advance.)

Well I have been putting off digging into Magic Bands until the last minute.

We leave Thursday night for a stay in Vero Beach and then Grand Floridian. I just went online and customized my band colors for the seven of us. The shipping address defaulted to my home address and I didn't know if I could change it to the Vero Beach address. They said the bands will be shipping soon to "either your home address or your resort".

I guess I am thinking that the bands will come to use via postal service when we are away because I was so lame as to wait on this. Or is there a chance they will simply send them to the resort (both the Vero Beach and the Grand Floridian were linked to the bands). Anyone know? Or are we doomed to seven gray bands?


Also, hubby and I went last Dec for a quick birthday trip and got the gray ones at the hotel when we checked in. We didn't use them, just our cards. Didn't think about it when I got home and never kept the bands but now they show up on my DME account. I went in and deactivated them. Is this ok? I want the new ones (and I know I will get two since we have a split stay)
