Magic Bands/Split Stay Question

Hi! I think I know the answer to this, but just confirming.

There are a bunch of us staying in one villa at BLT. We are all arriving on different flights and taking DME from the airport to BLT. Since we’re all in one villa, the magic bands could only be sent to one address. Once the bands arrive, I was planning to mail my sister’s and her family’s bands to her house (we could only have them sent to one address and they live out of state.)

Now my sister just added one extra night at Boulder Ridge at the end of the trip and are taking DME back to the airport from there. The magic bands they receive for this night of the trip will be sent to their address.

Because they will be getting magic bands for the 2nd leg of their trip, I now don’t need to send them the set of magic bands that come to my house, right? In my understanding both sets are just accessing the same information.

Yes, you are correct. The bands link to the info in MDE and don't actually have any info stored on them.

Technically, that's correct. Bands are interchangeable with one possible (and very annoying) exception. Some resorts (not all) will sometimes (not always) impose a limit of a single band to open the door to the room. Beach Club is the one Resort that seems to do this the most.

It's possible that since your sister will have a band for the second leg of the trip, it might not open the door at the first resort when they first get there. A trip to the front desk, and the CM can fix it. When you get there with the other Band, it may then not work at the first resort.

Both bands will work just fine for everything else; tickets, FPs, etc..

And they will probably both work just fine at the BLT as well - but just be aware that she could experience this situation.

I had that issue at the Beach club also. Never at any of the other resorts or stays did I have that problem. It took 3 trips to the front desk for them to fix it. It was annoying because they were doing stupid things like making all of my other magic bands deactivated, even the ones that I was using for the trip. Of course I went back in and changed it but it was the fact that that did nothing to fix the problem. IDK why that there is an issue only at the Beach club.
