Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

Ok, so what number do we need to put for the BoG FP+?

It doesn't take the package # due to alphabetic characters.

Who knows? The link is designed to be used by people who are selected at their resort check in to test. Some people, even though they were not offered the chance to test, have had luck entering their resort confirmation (if it's all numbers), their DME confirmation number or their MagicBand confirmation number. However, many have reported that once you get a number to go through you may or may not have the option to obtain FP+ and once you've entered one number, you cannot enter another. Also, it's super unclear how these will actually be redeemed by those that weren't offered the test. For example, I was able to make a reservation through the link, but it does not show up with my other FP+ selections. No idea if it will actually work or not.

Do you get to keep the magic bands after even though they are testers

Yes, they are ours to keep and hopefully use on future Disney vacations.

I am 17 days from my reservation today. I received my email invitation about 5 minutes ago. Strangely, to an email address I never gave Disney and not the one associated with MDX.

Yes - I have a fast pass for fantasmic during our stay. So glad cuz I really did not want to wait in line for hours or eat somewhere I didn't want to for the package.

Ugh!! I only hope there are some left for me to book when I get there. I've read they're only doing FP+ for select dates/shows. We're doing F! on Aug. 17th (in case you want to look for me and see if that date is available for FPs ).

Oh, and Illuminations on 8/18 if you are so inclined.

Yes, it is a big mess that a link that is only supposed to be given to certain people was made public and people are trying anything they can to book it. That's not Disney's fault in this case. I'm willing to try it and see, but am REALLY not expecting it to work for me. (this only refers to the BOG FP+ trial link that was distributed here)

My two cents...

I finally got the letter/e-mail today, 17 days prior to arrival.

I also did the BoG FP+ reservation.

I called the # on the letter (just in case) to confirm everything was ok, and was told everything looked good.

I also asked about the BoG FP+ reservation, and was told it was legit, and the CM/IT person also said he wished he'd done it when he was doing his testing, since the lines are so long @ BoG nowadays.

I am wondering if any Canadians have been involved in the testing? I am assuming it is just Americans because we don't have MDE access. We are going in Sept and would love to be part of the test group if our resort was chosen.

We are in Canada and have full access to fastpass+ because we have the MDE app on our IPad.

Just spent 2 hours on the phone with IT.
Had 2 reservations back to back, system would not give me access to fastpass+ on one of the reservations. Person inputed info manually for those days and said that I could modify myself. Nope.

Before signing up I called in to ask questions as to the ability of being able to walk up and get a fastpass was told you can do so no problem.
Last person that I spoke (was a callback from higher up) advised that my APs were linked to the magic band so they would not work, and a room key would not be issued because everything is done by the magic band, so I would have nothing to be inserted in the fastpass machine.

We have now opted out of the testing.

Won't you still have the actual Annual Passes? I thought those were required for obtaining AP discounts. And that's what you'd stick in the FP machine. (And I still wouldn't be surprised if you got KTTW as room keys in addition to your Magic Bands regardless of what the person in IT told you.)

This just in from someone commenting on a BLT tester's blog in Touring Plans:

"Florida State law is having a direct influence on the FP+ testing. State law say the admission ticket has to be an actual physical ticket that says it is a ticket along with other details. The RFID band does not conform to State Law as an admission media. Likely because of this, all the testers are getting both physical KTTW cards and magic bands in order to conform to State law. Disney, other theme park companies, third party ticket brokers, sports arenas. etc. are working with State legislators to rewrite applicable laws. I think when new laws are enacted, the choice to have both magic bands and KTTW act as tickets will be removed."

Cannot attest to the accuracy of this, but did find it interesting...

This is consistent with what I was told when I called. They saw I was on the DDP and reminded me to keep my KTTW card with me at all times along with my Magic Band because most restaurants don't accept Magic Bands yet. I was also told that on days I don't do FP+ I can use the KTTW card to collect old FPs.

Thanks for that link...very interesting. The bill died in committee this year (see http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2013/1353 ), so I would think it would be at least a year before it would be reintroduced. If they don't fix whatever is currently allowing double-dipping, it's going to be prime time for those of us in the know to visit Disney!

I am spending more time on planning this trip then I did for my wedding!!! Every day I find out something new that I need to look into. I feel like if I look away, by the time we get to WDW in a couple of weeks I might miss something important (like no refrigerator in the room so make other arrangements - could Disney not have told me that??). Ugg Disney, I have other things to do in my life!


Don't get me wrong Disers, grateful for the opportunity to go. We will have a great time I'm sure. But the uncertainty and the time involved with being prepared is getting a little out of hand
