Magic bands from past trips

I have magic bands from a past trip. Will they work for an upcoming trip?:confused3
 
......And unless you tell them no to they will send you a new one for every trip to WDW that you plan

IS there a way to tell them not to send them now? There wasn't before, but I would certainly hope they would make that an option. I have friends with one of each color!
 

No way yet to stop the flow of MB's.

The bands do have a 2 year battery for some Disney functions so using a fresh band each visit isn't a bad idea.

Even though my old magic bands are listed on my account with "My Disney Experience" I have found that sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

It seems like this technology is over Disney's head. I've been averaging a 30%+ failure rate for the magic band opening the door or being able to charge. Two trips ago we had to get the MBs fixed four times.

Two days ago there were no MBs waiting for us, even though we checked in on-line (only 4 days notice). Front desk chastised us for not bring our MBs with us and I informed her that due to the short notice DVC didn't send us any. She acted like it was a huge insult for her to have to make us bands.


In her opinion we were responsible to bring old bands. I explained that they routinely they didn't work. She of course blamed that on me.

I got her name and passed it along to management who will do nothing.

I'm not impressed with the new MBs.
 
Old bands should work, but do not always work. On our last trip my new band would not work to open our door. I had to go down to get it fixed and they said that all of my bands were deactivated. Not sure how that happened and they did not have an answer.

Glitches happen. Sometimes CMs get it into their heads that they know why. You brought old bands. You didn't bring old bands. You didn't have each and every one of them checked at the desk. You didn't "prime" each one by opening the door. You didn't do a magic dance with them, "sky clad", at midnight on the full moon before your trip. etc.

None of them are correct or at the very least WE would have figured out the one thing in common they have. Alas, the one thing is that there are glitches.


They SHOULD work. Sometimes they don't.


The way to not get new ones is to not verify your address or customize them, and then when you get to the resort, don't accept the MBs they have for you.

All my Magic Bands show on My Disney Experience, but when we arrived today I was worried that having 4 bands each (dh and I) that some wouldn't work. While checking on whether our room was ready (it wasn't) I had the CM check our bands, he very nicely checked each of our bands and confirmed that each of them was active.

I'm actually loving the bands (didn't think I would) and looking forward to what happens with them over the next couple of years.
 
We are hooking them together to make a magic band garland for our christmas tree.
 
Quick question: are they shipping the Magic Bands immediately when you "order" them, or after the "order by date" window closes (1 month before your arrival date)?

Last time, I remember getting them a couple weeks after ordering them, but that was during the "test" period ... (which is also probably why my old MBs don't show up in MDE ...)

I believe they ship after the order by date. You can change color selections up to that date.
