Magic Bands from Disney Store

I am loving the Magic Bands with designs at the Disney Store Online. Why can't I choose those with my reservation? If I order separately will I be able to link them to my reservation before I go so I can do the online check in or will they have to be activated once we get there?

1. It's Disney... That's just not what they offer.
2. Yes. If you do order any extra MBs yourself, and connect them to your MDE account, they will work interchangeably with any other MBs in your MDE account (like the ones from your WDW resort.)
3. No.

On-line check-in is not related to which MBs that you have.
It is not related to MBs at all.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each
additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.
So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.
The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.

I recently purchased a MB from the Disney store for my sister's first visit as the rest of us are using bands from prior trips. No problems linking it to her in MDE--actually one of the smoothest "transactions" I've encountered with Disney IT. Also have a specialty band purchased and activated in the park, which after one initial hiccup works seamlessly/interchangeably with my other 2. On our last trip my teenage son wore a band on each arm, used them interchangeably in fast pass lines (one at the frist mickey, the second at the other) with no problems.
