Magic Bands & Fastpass + question

So I must admit usually I'm on top of what's new with Disney but between just having a baby and thinking I wouldn't be going back to Disney for quite some time, I really haven't been paying attention to the whole magic bands/fastpass + stuff. Well, we decided last minute to book a trip for early Nov and I'm wondering if someone would help me out and tell me how or if I can get a magic band (we're staying at Pop which I think was part of the testing). Can I contact someone to get one or is it just random people that they select? And how do I go about setting up the fastpass +. When I go to the site it says something about this feature will be available in the future. If someone could explain this to me I'd greatly appreciate it. And yes I did listen to the podcast where they talked about them but I still don't quite understand how to get them. Thanks so much.

First congrats on the baby and return trip to Disney. :goodvibes

You need to log onto My Disney Experience and then you can click on the Magicband and FP+ areas to customize. I believe you can only customize 60 days out, at least thats our experience with our upcoming POR stay the end of October.

I'm within the 60 day period but when I click on magic band under my account it says I need to link a reservation and when I put in my confirmation number it says I already have that reservation linked. Clicking on the fastpass + just gives me info that says if you are pre selected to participate then you can customize. I guess my question is how do I know if I'm pre selected or not?

As someone with the magic band, you will be missing nothing if you don't get one. Fast pass+ is far more annoying than helpful and the ratio of scheduling to spontaneousness goes far more lopsided if you stick to what you book. We have our trip next week and are checking it out in the park with anticipation of complaints we've noticed already.

Let us know what you think for sure. But I think some people are currently reporting levels of flexibility that wont exist when FP+ goes live.

We don't even know how many FP+s are available for testing, they might be unlimited for any given attraction, just limited to 3 per person per day. People have reported being able to switch their daily FP+s and get the attractions they want, even same day.

Of course this will drastically change when the old FP system is gone, and everyone in the park is using the limited supply of FP+s and is able to book them 60 days out.

Pretty much everyone staying at a test resort is "pre-selected". No one has ever reported not being able to get them.

Do you see your reservation in MDX? If you don't, and it says it is already linked, you've run into some glitch, and will need to contact Disney for assistance.

The number of testers thus far seems to have been VERY small. In August I saw very few people wearing the bands, and fewer still making use of them. Somewhere south of 5% I estimate had bands...possible a LOT less. So I wouldn't have doubted that it was easy to switch them around and get what you wanted for the most part. Don't know how many they allocated each day during the testing though. Certainly not "unlimited".

I have the same situation. We're staying at Kidani/DVC and I have everything registered through My Disney Experience but clicking on Magic Band links (of any kind) just tells me what they are. I'll keep trying because I really wanted to experience it.

60 days doesn't matter much during the testing periods.

AKV Kidani is not on the test resort list, so if you are checking in before Oct. 31st, that's why.

If you are checking in after Oct. 31st - well, no testing has been scheduled beyond then yet.

Ding ding. The current round of testing is only through Oct 31.
